Values Climb

In an otherwise weak Delhi Stock Exchange (DSE) yesterday, Reliance Industries, stole the show on brisk buying by financial houses and speculators enthused by the companys announcement of a liberal one for one bonus issue. The share prices climbed up to close with notable gains. The DSE index closed 5.49 points higher at 871.72 points
Marketmen said the news was much above the expectations of the investors and speculators fraternity as they had the idea of a bonus issue in the ratio of 3:5 ratio. In view of the hectic activity, the DSE authority extended the trading time by 15 minutes to accommodate all entries of transactions in this counter. The total transactions which took place in this counter were 67.84 lakh shares.
Elsewhere, share prices moved in a restricted range on some profit selling activity and brokers off-loaded their portfolios to invest in the Reliance Industries counter. Closing in other scrips was on a lower side. However, a few blue chip company shares like ACC, OBC, SBI, Grasim , MTNL, Ranbaxy Lab. and ITC were higher on foreign financial investors and speculators buying.
