Airtel launches 'Easy Travel'

Airtel has entered into a strategic tie-up with travel portal, Travelguru, to launch a new service, Easy Travel.

The service, which has been launched only in Karnataka, will help its subscribers to book their domestic air tickets from their mobile phones.

Supported by a metasearch technology, the customer can also select and choose from the lowest fare options with schedules and real-time availability, across various airlines on the mobile screen, the company said in a release.

The subscriber needs to SMS 'FLY FROM-TO, DATE & MONTH' to 500 (For ex. SMS 'FLY BLR DEL 20 NOV'), following which he will get an SMS response with the list of available airlines on the specified date, departure time and airfare details.

Depending on his requirement, the customer needs to send a second SMS `BOOK FLIGHT NO' to 500. Once the customer confirms his booking, he will receive a call from a travel consultant to confirm the travel plan and booking.

The executive will send the PNR status to the customer either through SMS or email or through fax. Payments are to be made through credit cards, the details of the same need to be shared with the travel consultant prior to the completion of the booking.

As an introductory offer, the company has announced that the Airtel customers who book through the mobile will be offered 5 per cent cash back on basic fare for all their flight bookings done before November 30. The offer is valid only for bookings made on full-flight carriers.
