Already working with numerous institutes across India, Autodesk, the world’s leading design software and digital content company, now plans to work with the Union government for introduction of animation & design courses at college level.

The company expects, the introduction of such courses at college to create professionals rich with animation skills, who can make it a career. Speaking to Business Standard, Autodesk India’s senior manager, India Education Program, Deepanker Bhattacharya said, “We are in talks with the Union government to introduce animation & design courses at college level. There is no such course there, so the proposed move will help in creating animation professionals.”

Autodesk will assist the Union government in designing the courses, content developing, curriculum integration, etc. He added, “We are closely working with a number of Institutes across India like Mumbai-based Sir JJ College of Architecture and Ahmedabad-based National Institute of Design.

Our association with JJ College is India’s education initiative, which is aimed at equipping India’s new generation architects with world-class designing capabilities.” It has an established centre in the JJ College with the latest version of Autodesk’s 3D design software for architecture, urban design, sustainable design, building technology etc. The centre acts as a learning platform for both faculty and students and serves as a hub for latest design software from industry stalwarts.

He added, “As a leader in design software, it is our endeavour to provide faculty and students the facility to learn, share and create new age skills. Going forward, we have plans to extend its partnership with institutes and universities across India in the areas of Industrial Design, Construction Management, Animation and Special Effects. We are also in talks with number of institutes for curriculum integration, development of courses and research partnership.”

In the northern region, the company is closely working with Punjab-based Chitkara Institute of Engineering and Technology. Today the institute unveiled the concept car built by its student team “Stealth 2.” The car has qualified to participate in Shell Eco Marathon Asia, a competition on sustainable mobility and design to be held in Kuala Lumpur from July 8 to 10 this year. Autodesk, a world leader in 2D and 3D design and engineering software, has provided the technology tools to the students in modelling, animation and analysis for this project. The students have used “Autodesk Inventor Professional 2010” to build this innovative prototype. The competition will see participation from 90 teams coming from 12 countries.

He added that in near future the company may choose Chitkara Institute of Engineering and Technology as a nodal institution to reach to the engineering students and will impart training to faculty and students. Also it will start courses which will be related to usage of software tools and integration of tool in courses.
