Dhanus Technologies, an alternative telecommunications service provider, has entered into an MoU with the Kerala State Private Bus Operators Federation (KSPBOF) to install passenger information system in all private buses across Kerala.

The first-of-its-kind initiative is being launched along with its consortium partners, Sobha AppliedDSP Pvt Ltd, Chennai, and Kiran Technologies, Kochi.

According to the MoU, Dhanus would provide FleeTrac services in over 20,000 private buses.

With this, passengers would get instant information on location, arrival and departure timing and the proposed arrival time of the destination of every individual bus through Internet and SMS.

"FleeTrac is an innovation from Dhanus Technologies in the telematics space and is useful for bus, truck, taxi, and call centre transport," said AD Sudhindra, executive chairman of Dhanus Technologies.

Passengers will have real time information on the next approaching destination and distance or time left for the same through an LED display within the buses.

As the display would be both in English and Malayalam, this will also help tourists who face difficulties due to language barrier, said AK Abdulla, president, KSPBOF.

The system will also keep a check on the speed of the buses.
