EDST to set up competency centre in Bangalore

EDS Technologies (EDST), a product lifecycle management (PLM) solutions and service provider, has announced to set up a technology competency centre for PLM solutions and applications, in Bangalore.

The objective of establishing the centre is to help the customers in India including the OEMs, SMEs and engineering & design service providers, derive best benefits from the use of PLM solutions, the company said in a release.

The competency centre will be backed by a 40-member technical support team. The company has named Venkata Siva Prasad as the head of the competency centre.

According to S Senthil, VP, operations, EDS Technologies, "The competency centre will have a dedicated team of specialists in IBM and Dassault Systems PLM products. The team brings with it domain expertise in automotive, aerospace and other industries with experience in implementing, customising and consulting on PLM solutions."

The size of global engineering and design business is about $650 billion. Presently, India's share in this market is estimated to be less than 1 per cent.
