Hewlett Packard (HP) India today unveiled a range of printers to expand its market share in the printing business. The new printer range mainly caters to large format printing industries like engineering and construction, and architecture.

The three new printers are HP Designjet T2300 emultifunction (priced Rs 5.5 lakh) and HP Designjet T7100 and Z6200 (priced between Rs 6.5 lakh and Rs 9.5 lakh).

“Design and architecture segments are burgeoning and are fuelled by the construction boom in the country. Our new range is mainly targeted at this segment. We see a huge potential in this segment,” said Mahesh Kumar Soni, country manager, design business, HP India. Earlier, HP had introduced cloud printing service through which customers can take prints online anytime and anywhere.

The digital printing business in India is expected to grow 10 times to touch the $2.5-billion mark by 2012. In India, over 200 units of LED (light-emitting diode) printers are sold every quarter, while the digital printing solutions market is 1,200 to 1,500 units.
