Infosys, the country’s second-largest information technology services exporter, today said it was planning to treble the proportion of foreign nationals working for it, but no schedule was specified.
It is also expecting government business to contribute three to five per cent of total revenue in the next five years. CEO and MD ‘Kris’ Gopalakrishnan said so to reporters here today. Nine months earlier, the company had floated a new subsidiary in the US to tap the $100-billion government IT market globally. Asked if the company was a late entrant in the domain, while other IT majors such as TCS and Wipro had already made a plan in this regard, he said, “We don’t believe we are too late. Governments are big spenders and there is a big opportunity for the company in this space.”
