Nokia launches Life Tools

Nokia has launched its agricultural, educational and entertainment services — Nokia Life Tools — in Maharashtra under a revenue-sharing agreement with the state government.
Separately, the company will roll out the services across 10 states, starting with Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh, in the next couple of weeks. The company intends to launch the service in select countries across Asia and Africa later this year.
Nokia India has entered into an agreement with Maharashtra State Agricultural Marketing Board (MSAMB) to roll out the services, starting with news and information on agriculture. MSAMB will provide data on commodities from its 291 local mandis (markets), which will delivered over handsets to subscribers in the rural areas, Nokia India Managing Director D Shivakumar said.
The financial details of the agreement were not disclosed.
MSAMB will also provide news, alerts on schemes and other information directly to consumers. The service was launched after a completion of a pilot project that ended in April, he added.
