Telcos increase 2G-data rate

Telecom operators like Bharti Airtel, Vodafone and Idea Cellular had increased rate for 2G data by 25 per cent, keeping the 3G prices unchanged to reduce the gap between 2G and 3G rates. Sector analysts said the decision to increase rate for 2G data, which contributes about four per cent of revenues of telecom operators, was likely to increase cash inflows for the operators.
