The revolution in the world of telecommunications has done plenty of good to mankind. Life seems to have become easier, since communication is a major tool for human existence. In today's world, almost everyone owns a mobile phone. Thus, making it ridiculously difficult for you to be aware of every handset number. The increased stress laid on one's privacy is also hampered by unwanted calls from unknown numbers at odd hours. To cure that, application developers came up with Truecaller, an app that provides the identity of the person calling you on your smart device. Whenever you get an incoming call, Truecaller searches its database and displays the name and region of the person calling you. It's available free of cost of Android, iOS, Windows and BlackBerry. The app works well on EDGE as well as 3G. Thus, making it a must have.
Based on a similar platform, the brains behind Truecaller have released another application called Truedialer. This one helps you in identifying the number you are making a call to. Truedialer searches for contacts when you start typing numbers on the app from your device phonebook and numbers from the Truecaller directory, which are not saved in your phonebook. You can see contacts of people who have installed Truecaller on their smartphone and at the same time they can also see your details when they dial your number from the app and have not saved it on the device's phonebook. The app has a minimalistic and simple design, which makes it easy to use and way faster than the default dialler app.
But, how often do you call an unknown number? In terms of viability, Truedialer falls far behind Truecaller and calls for wastage of data and battery life (not major). However, if you wish to install the app on your smartphone, there are more pros than cons with this. It's available for free for Android and Windows phones.

Holaa
Holaa is a caller identification app available from Nimbuzz. Just like Truecaller, the app provides details of the callers, including the caller's name, photo and location during an incoming call. This app also uses crowd-sourced data to give caller details. An interesting feature in this app is that you can share both the contacts in your mobile and the unknown contact list with your friends. Holaa! is currently available free of cost on Android devices. If you have Truecaller already installed on your smartphone, there is nothing much that Holaa can offer to generate interest. However, for first-time caller identification app users, it is not a bad option, especially after news about alleged privacy invasion by Truecaller.
