The Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2026 is now heading towards its playoff stage, with 16 matches in the group stage all done and dusted. However, despite just four matches left to play, only one team has been able to confirm its place in the playoffs, i.e., table-toppers Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), with ten points to their name after seven matches.

Defending champions Mumbai Indians (MI), following their win against RCB on Monday, have jumped back to the number two spot with six points. But MI have played one more match then the teams below them, keeping their playoff chances in a pickle.

Delhi Capitals (DC) and Gujarat Giants (GG), with six points from six matches, are the other two favourites to book their place in the next stage as they have the same points as MI but one less match to show for.

UP Warriorz (UPW), with just four points, have the lowest chance of making it to the next stage, but they can still make their way through if they manage to win their next two games with big margins.

WPL 2026: Playoff qualification scenario

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB)

2024 champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) became the first team to book their place in the playoffs. However, they are yet to confirm their place at the top of the points table after losses to Delhi Capitals and Mumbai Indians. However, they still just need to win their last game to ensure that, or simply make sure they do not lose the match by a huge margin and compromise their net run rate advantage.

Mumbai Indians (MI)

Defending champions Mumbai Indians, with six points from seven matches, have boosted their playoff chances with a win over RCB on Monday, propelling them to the number two spot in the points table. However, even winning their last match will not confirm their place in the playoffs right away as they need other match results to go in their favour as well.

Delhi Capitals (DC)

After losing three of their first four games, Jemimah Rodrigues-led Delhi Capitals have made a strong comeback in the playoff race with back-to-back wins against MI and RCB. They are currently third on the points table with six points from six matches. They have their fate in their own hands as two wins in their next two games will confirm their place in the playoffs.

Gujarat Giants (GG)

Despite starting the season with back-to-back wins, Ashleigh Gardner-led Gujarat Giants have managed to win just one game in their next four matches. However, they are still very much in the playoff race as they just need to win their next two matches. One win could also take them to the next stage, provided UPW and MI lose at least one more game from their remaining matches.

UP Warriorz (UPW)

Meg Lanning-led UP Warriorz, with just two wins this season, are struggling at the bottom of the points table. However, they still have a chance to book their place in the playoffs, given that RCB win their remaining matches and either GG or DC also win their remaining matches against the other teams, except RCB.
