Out of 118 candidates with criminal record contesting the Delhi Assembly polls, 24 candidates (20 per cent) did not have their records disclosed or justified by their respective parties, poll rights body ADR said on Tuesday. A total of 699 candidates are contesting the upcoming assembly polls in Delhi.

To boost turnout on poll day, Delhi shops, salons to offer special discounts to voters

With the Delhi Assembly elections just a day away, the Chamber of Trades and Industries (CTI) has announced that salons and beauty parlours across the city will offer discounts ranging from 20 to 50 per cent to people who cast their vote. Apart from salons, various businesses, including shops, restaurants, hotels, malls, coffee shops, and dhabas, will also offer discounts between 10 per cent and 50 per cent to customers who vote.

Arvind Kejriwal alleges Delhi Police threatened AAP's Bawana candidate

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal shared the party's Chief Media Coordinator Vikas Yogi's post where Jai Bhagwan Upkar purportedly exchanged heated words with a Delhi police personnel. Kejriwal alleged that Delhi Police issued threats to AAP's candidate from the Bawana Assembly constituency, Jai Bhagwan Upkar. Kejriwal, in his X post, said, "Amit Shah's goon, disguised as a policeman, is openly issuing threats. Amit Shah, India will not tolerate your hooliganism."

Delhi HC issues notice to CM Atishi on BJP leader's plea in defamation case

The Delhi High Court on Tuesday issued notice to Delhi Chief Minister Atishi on a BJP leader's plea against the rejection of a defamation case against her over her allegations that BJP attempted to poach AAP MLAs. The counsel for the complainant Praveen Shankar Kapoor argued the revisional court exceeded the scope of its jurisdiction while rejecting his defamation complaint and quashing the summons issued by a magisterial court to the AAP leader to stand trial.

"Elaborate arrangements have been made. It was going on before the MCC was enforced. In the last 24 hours, action was taken, preventive arrests happened, action against inducements was done. The election parties are moving to the respective booths, till 3 pm, around 40 pc have reached. We have arrested 14 proclaimed offenders, 25 FIRs were registered. Four FIRs were registered against illegal meetings, manipulated videos on social media, unauthorised rallies. 340 persons were booked under different sections of BNS, 278 arrested in excise cases. 1,835 litres of liquor was seized,"  Delhi Police Special CP (Crime Branch) Devesh Chandra Shrivastava said.
