The health department of the Delhi government has issued a show-cause notice to the Guru Teg Bahadur (GTB) hospital authorities asking to "terminate" the services of a senior resident doctor, days after the death of an injured man, who was allegedly denied admission at four different hospitals. Delhi govt approves projects worth Rs 245 cr for capital's villages

The Delhi Village Development Board passed 284 new proposals worth Rs 245 crore on Tuesday for roads and drains in the villages of the national capital, Development Minister Gopal Rai said. He said a six-member task force has also been formed to monitor the execution of projects as there were complaints of delay. The minister said 564 development projects worth Rs 759 crore were already approved by the board for the villages. So far, projects worth around Rs 1,000 crore have been passed by the board under this head, he added.

ED files chargesheet in Waqf Board case involving AAP MLA Amanatullah Khan

The Enforcement Directorate on Tuesday filed a charge sheet in a money laundering probe linked to alleged irregularities in the recruitment of staff and leasing of assets of the Delhi Waqf Board during the chairmanship of AAP MLA Amanatullah Khan, official sources said. A total of five entities have been named in the prosecution complaint (charge sheet) that includes three alleged associates of Khan-- Zeeshan Haider, Daud Nasir and Jawed Imam Siddiqui-- who were arrested by the central agency in November 2023, apart from some others, they said. Khan, the 49-year-old legislator who represents the Okhla constituency in the Delhi assembly, has not been named as an accused. The agency, after conducting raids against Khan and some others in October last year, had claimed that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA acquired "huge proceeds of crime" in cash from illegal recruitment of staff in the Delhi Waqf Board and invested these for purchasing immovable assets in the name of his associates. Kejriwal to embark on Goa visit to assess AAP's readiness for LS polls

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal will embark on a two-day visit of Goa on January 11 to assess the AAP's preparations for the Lok Sabha elections, party sources said. Kejriwal, the AAP's national convenor, will also hold meetings with party workers during his visit, they added. "The two-day Goa visit is for assessing the preparations for the Lok Sabha polls. Delhi LG's nod to standardise non-creamy layer, EWS certificates for jobs

In a move to standardise the non-creamy layer and economically weaker section (EWS) certificates for the purpose of recruitment by different departments of the Delhi government, Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena has approved the recommendations of a high-level committee, officials said on Monday. The committee that was set up by the Delhi government's chief secretary has recommended adoption of prescribed format of certificate of the Revenue department in consonance with the format of Department of Personnel and Training of the Central government, they said. The LG's approval will simplify and standardise issuance of non-creamy layer and economically weaker section certificates to the applicants. Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday credited the increase in Delhi's per capita income to the hard work and joint efforts of two crore Delhiites and the city government. Delhi's per capita income increased from Rs 3,89,529 to Rs 4,44,768 in the current financial year, which is 158 per cent higher than the national average, the Kejriwal government said on the release of its Statistical Handbook-2023 on Saturday. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has accepted the resignation of DCW chief Swati Maliwal, who is among the AAP's candidates for the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections, and forwarded it to the lieutenant governor, officials said on Saturday. Maliwal will file her nomination papers for the elections here on Monday, they said. Delhi Chief Minister and AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal has cut short his three-day Gujarat tour by a day to attend an important meeting related to the Delhi government's 2024-25 budget, officials said. Delhi govt finance department begins budget preparations for 2024-25

The Delhi government has begun preparations for the 2024-25 budget with the Finance Department directing other departments to prepare realistic budget estimates. In an official communication last week, the Finance Department said that a final review of the budgetary position based on the actual expenditure of last nine months of all the departments will be taken up shortly. AAP welcomes CBI probe into supply of inferior drugs in govt hospitals

Delhi Health Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj on Friday welcomed the CBI inquiry into the alleged supply of substandard medicines to Delhi government-run hospitals and demanded the immediate suspension of the health department's secretary. The inquiry by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) was ordered by the Union home ministry following a recommendation of Delhi Lieutenant Governor V K Saxena in this regard. "I had given directions for carrying out an audit of medicines immediately after assuming office in March last year but the (Delhi government) health secretary did not follow the directions. AAP leader Sanjay Singh allowed to sign documents for RS renomination

A court here has allowed AAP MP Sanjay Singh, arrested in a money laundering case related to the alleged Delhi excise scam, to sign forms and documents for his Rajya Sabha renomination. Special Judge M K Nagpal passed the order on an application filed by the politician, who submitted that his present term as a member of the Rajya Sabha is expiring on January 27 and the Returning Officer has issued a notice on January 2 for conduct of the election and nominations for the same are to be submitted by January 9.
