Poll authorities seek action against AAP after MCC violation in Delhi event

A day ahead of the high-stakes municipal elections in Delhi, poll authorities on Saturday directed police to take necessary action and "lodge an FIR" for alleged violation of the model code of conduct during an event organised by the AAP here. The alleged model code of conduct (MCC) violation took place at the event -- 'Dilli ki Yogshala: Yog Prashikon ko Samman Rashi Ka Vitran' -- held on Friday at the Constitution Club, which was attended by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and his deputy Manish Sisodia. AAP will regulate those illegal markets BJP refused to licence: Sisodia

Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia on Thursday said the AAP will regularise markets that have have not been granted licenses by MCD, which, he alleged, BJP denied them to extort money. Traders constitute an important votebank for the parties and both AAP and BJP have announced sops for them, if they are voted to power after the December 4 MCD polls. Calling Delhi a traders' city, Sisodia alleged that retailers and service providers like restaurants have been much "harassed" by the BJP-ruled municipal corporations. "Bribe was rampant in issuing various kinds of licenses that was called 'BJP fees.' We will rationalise the license fees that are very high and people themselves will discard the 'BJP fee' this time in the MCD polls," Sisodia told PTI in an interview. "The municipal corporations under the BJP, deliberately declared numerous markets in the city as illegal. The markets are there but they do not exist on paper. "There are at least 70 municipal wards where there is n

Owaisi hurls 'chhota recharge' barb at AAP, terms Kejriwal 'Modi of 2013'

AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi on Sunday targeted the Arvind Kejriwal-led AAP with a "chhota recharge" jibe, while alleging that the Delhi chief minister defamed Muslims and "wants to break all records of Narendra Modi". The AIMIM has fielded 16 candidates in the December 4 MCD polls. "When people were reeling under COVID-19, struggling for oxygen and hospital beds, the Delhi chief minister spewed venom and said coronavirus was spreading because of Tablighi Jammat. He defamed Tablighi Jamaat. "The lists of Covid cases in Delhi had a column mentioning Tablighi Jamaat members as super-spreaders. The entire country started doubting Muslims. The hatred increased and many people were ...
