Swarna Andhra-2047: CM unveils vision for 'wealthy, healthy, happy' state

Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Friday unveiled the "Swarna Andhra-2047" vision document, aimed at achieving a 'wealthy, healthy and happy' Andhra Pradesh. The chief minister announced it during a public meeting at the Indira Gandhi Municipal Stadium here, which encompasses 10 principles (padi sutralu) and one vision to accomplish a golden future for the southern state. Zero poverty, employment, skilling and human resources development, water security, farmer-agri tech and best global logistics were some of the 10 principles. Others include cost optimisation of energy and fuel, product perfection, swachh (clean) Andhra and incorporating deep tech in all walks of life. During the recent second district collectors conference at the Secretariat in Amaravati, Naidu stressed that the TDP-led NDA government's governance will be based on the Swarna Andhra-2047 vision at state, district, mandal and panchayat levels. Andhra Pradesh discoms to procure about 2000 MW power from SECI next FY

Andhra Pradesh power distribution companies have decided to procure about 2,000 mw of power from SECI out of the total 7000 mw in demand for the agricultural sector for the next fiscal, as per the latest filing by these companies with the AP Electricity Regulatory Commission. The move comes weeks after the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) agreement with Andhra discoms became controversial after the US charged Adani Group chairman Gautam Adani in a years-long scheme to allegedly pay USD 250 million bribe to Indian officials including those from Andhra, in exchange for favourable solar power contracts in 2021 when the YSRCP was in power. LG Electronics India has plans to set up a new plant in Andhra Pradesh to boost its manufacturing capacity in the country, though it also fears competition from its South Korean parent entity. EESL, Andhra Pradesh launch 3 programmes to boost energy efficiency

The Government of Andhra Pradesh in collaboration with state-owned Energy Efficiency Services Ltd (EESL) has launched three transformative programmes to drive energy efficiency, environmental sustainability, and economic empowerment across the state, according to a statement. The EESL is a joint venture of PSUs under the Ministry of Power. The first programme launched, the URJAVEER, developed by EESL, aims to empower 1 lakh individuals in Andhra as "Urjaveers" ambassadors for energy efficiency who promote appliances available on EESLmart.in through affiliate-based marketing, EESL said in the statement. Andhra Pradesh government dissolves Waqf Board for 'better' governance

The Andhra Pradesh government has dissolved the AP State Waqf Board to promote good governance, safeguard Waqf properties, and ensure the board operates efficiently, officials said. The state government revoked a government order (GO) issued on October 21, 2023, which had elected three members and nominated seven others to the 11-member Waqf Board. "In the interest of maintaining good governance, protecting Waqf properties, and ensuring the smooth functioning of the Waqf Board, the government hereby withdraws GO MS No. 47 (which constituted the board) with immediate effect," said K Harshavardhan, secretary to the government, in a Government Order, issued on Saturday. SC defers bail plea against Chandrababu Naidu in skill development case

The Supreme Court on Friday adjourned till January, 2025, the hearing on an appeal filed by the Andhra Pradesh government against the order of bail to Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu in the skill development corporation scam case. A bench of Justices Bela M Trivedi an S C Sharma deferred the matter after senior advocate Mukul Rohatgi, appearing for the state government, sought the adjournment. "There is no point in adjourning the matter from time to time. By way of a last opportunity list in the second week of January," the bench said.
