IAF had signed a contract with the US government and Boeing Ltd in September 2015 for 22 Apache helicopters
India will ultimately receive 22 AH-64E Apache attack, and 15 CH-47F(I) Chinook transport, helicopters
Business Standard has investigated these allegations around the Apache purchase and found that the uproar stems from a lack of understanding of the way America processes foreign arms sales.
The deal includes the sale of 180 AGM-114L-3 Hellfire Longbow missiles, 90 AGM-114R-3 Hellfire II missiles, 200 Stinger Block I-92H missiles, next to 30mm cannons and ammunition.
The lead contractors are US arms, aviations and engineering giants Lockheed Martin, General Electric and Raytheon
The army's Apaches will only be delivered from 2020 after Boeing delivers IAF its 22 choppers
The order follows on from previous purchase of 22 Apache and Chinook helicopters from Boeing in 2015
