Former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday termed the Aam Aadmi Party's victories in the Punjab and Gujarat bypolls as a "semifinal" for the 2027 assembly elections, asserting that the party is on track to form the next governments in both states. Kejriwal was speaking at an event to celebrate the party's twin victories in assembly bypolls held in Visavadar in Gujarat and Ludhiana West in Punjab. Special Judge Dig Vinay Singh issued notice to Enforcement Directorate (ED) and Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and sought their replies by June 4, the next date of hearing. Kejriwal's counsel told the court that his passport expired in 2018 and he has moved the application seeking its renewal for 10 years. The CBI, meanwhile, told the judge that it is ready for arguments on framing of charges in the corruption case related to the alleged excise policy scam. The Delhi High Court on Monday will hear petitions by AAP leaders Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia against the trial court's decision to take cognisance of the Enforcement Directorate's charge sheet filed in alleged excise policy scam. The petitions, filed in 2024, are listed for hearing before Justice Ravinder Dudeja. According to the former Delhi chief minister, the special court took cognisance of the charge sheet filed in a money laundering case linked to the scam in the absence of any sanction for his prosecution, which was required as he was a public servant when the alleged offence was committed. The BJP on Saturday lashed out at AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal and cited an RTI reply that revealed the former chief minister's bungalow was maintained with an annual cost of Rs 3.69 crore between 2015-2022. Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva said the details obtained through a right to information (RT) query has shown that a total of Rs 3,69,54,384 was spent annually on regular maintenance of Kejriwal's previous bungalow that he occupied as the chief minister.
