Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Thursday said a robust road network in the state will pave the way for the realisation of 'Mission-2030', a vision of the state government. Under 'Mission-2030', the state government has envisioned developing Rajasthan as one of the leading states of the country by 2030. In a virtual inauguration, Gehlot laid the foundation stone of 153 road development project that cost Rs 4,817 crore on Thursday. The chief minister said road development in Rajasthan in the last four and a half years have been "excellent" due to which the roads of the state are being praised across the country. Today, villages and towns in remote areas of the state are being connected by a safe and smooth road system, he said. Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has approved the customized packages for seven projects to encourage investment of Rs 24,681 crore in the state. The proposals approved in the fifth meeting of the Board of Investment will create employment opportunities for more than 10,000 people, a release said. Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Independence Day launched the state government's Annapurna Food Packet Scheme. Referring to his government's public welfare schemes, Gehlot said these are not freebies (revdi) and are being implemented with "excellent" financial management. He said, "My announcements are not just announcements, I have done what I have said." Gehlot also distributed Annapurna Food Packets to some of the beneficiaries on the occasion. Amid a row over reports suggesting that Congress-ruled Rajasthan is planning to build two dams upstream of the Dharoi dam, the Gujarat government has registered its protests saying the project would violate a water-sharing agreement. Gujarat Water Resources Minister Kunvarji Bavaliya told reporters on Friday he has written to the Rajasthan government over its plans to build dams on Sabarmati and Sei rivers near the border of both states. Concerns have been expressed that if such a plan is implemented, the Dharoi dam won't get any water. According to Bavaliya, Rajasthan should adhere to the water-sharing agreement signed when Dharoi dam on Sabarmati river was built in Mehsana district of Gujarat over 40 years ago. While Sabarmati river originates from Rajasthan, Sei river is a tributary which eventually merges with Sabarmati before it enters north Gujarat, where Dharoi dam is situated.
