BMW Motorrad drives in C 400 GT scooter in India tagged at Rs 9.95 lakh

BMW Motorrad, the two-wheeler arm of the luxury German carmaker, on Tuesday said it has launched premium midsize scooter BMW C 400 GT in India priced at Rs 9.95 lakh (ex-showroom). The all-new scooter will be available as a completely built-up unit (CBU) and can be booked at all BMW Motorrad India dealerships from today onwards, the company said in a statement. The launch of the all-new BMW C 400 GT heralds a new era in the urban mobility segment in India. This progressive and agile mid-size scooter is designed to conquer the city and long touring destinations with ease," BMW Group India President Vikram Pawah noted. Mahindra Thar clocks cumulative bookings of 75k units in one year of launch

Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) on Monday said its SUV Thar has crossed 75,000 cumulative bookings mark in one year of its launch in the country. The all-new Thar continued its relentless march to automotive folklore and clocked 75,000 bookings just a year after its launch on Mahindra Group's 75th Anniversary on October 2, 2020, the automaker said in a statement. It has breached the traditional boundaries set by off-roaders and invaded into the dreams of metro-based young, urban buyers who are looking for an authentic yet sophisticated SUV experience, it added. The company noted that 40 per cent of the bookings of the model have come from millennials. "Another interesting fact is that almost 50 per cent of the bookings are for the automatic variant and 25 per cent of the total bookings are for the petrol variant," it added. Tata Motors unveils sub-compact SUV Punch; launch later this month

Tata Motors on Monday expanded its product range in the country with the unveiling of its sub-compact SUV Punch. The company plans to launch the model on October 20, and has commenced bookings on its website and sales network across the country for Rs 21,000. The Punch, which would sit below Nexon in the company's product line up, comes with a 1.2 litre petrol engine mated to both manual and automatic transmissions. The model comes with SUV attributes like tall seating, high ground clearance, 370 mm water wading capability and traction feature to aid recovery in off road situations. "As we have seen over the last few years, SUVs today have gone beyond just mere size and it is more about attitude and expression. Semiconductor shortage pulls down India's PV dispatches in Sept

The global semiconductor shortage hit passenger vehicle sales in September, with major manufacturers like Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai and Mahindra & Mahindra reporting a decline in sales on Friday. Kia India and Honda Cars also reported a dip in wholesales last month as compared with the year-ago period. Carmakers like Tata Motors, Toyota Kirloskar Motor, Nissan and Skoda, however, reported an increase in passenger vehicle dispatches last month despite supply chain issues. The country's largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) said its domestic sales slipped 54.9 per cent to 68,815 units last month as against 1,52,608 units in September 2020. "Sales volume of the company in September 2021 was adversely impacted due to shortage of electronic components. Tata Motors domestic wholesales increase 28% in September

Tata Motors on Friday said its total domestic wholesales increased 28 per cent year-on-year (y-o-y) to 55,988 units in September. The company had dispatched a total of 44,410 units to its dealers in September 2020. The auto major said its total passenger vehicle sales in the domestic market stood at 25,730 units last month, compared with 21,199 units in the same month last year. Commercial vehicle sales in the domestic market stood at 30,258 units, up 30 per cent from 23,211 units in September 2020, it added. In the July-September 2021 quarter, the automaker sold a total of 1,71,270 units in the domestic market, up 55 per cent from 1,10,345 units in the second quarter of 2020-21. Honda Cars India reports 34 pc dip in domestic sales at 6,765 units in Sept

Honda Cars India Ltd (HCIL) on Friday reported a 33.66 year-on-year dip in domestic sales at 6,765 units for September. The company had sold 10,199 units in the domestic market during September 2020, HCIL said in a statement. Exports stood at 2,964 units last month as compared with 170 units in September 2020, it added. "On the demand side, there is good momentum in the market with improved buying sentiment. "However, the supply chain hurdles, including the widespread chip shortage, have been a big challenge right now for the industry, which impacted our production volume and despatches during last month," Honda Cars India Senior Vice-President and Director (Marketing and Sales) Rajesh Goel said. Tata Motors rolls out 1,00,000th unit of Altroz from Pune plant

Tata Motors on Tuesday rolled out the 1,00,000th unit of its hatchback Altroz, from the company's manufacturing facility at Pune. The city-headquartered vehicle maker had commenced Altroz production at the fag-end of November 2019. It launched the vehicle in January 2020. The first vehicle model built on the ALFA (Agile Light Flexible Advanced) architecture, the Altroz, has acquired the top 2nd position in the premium hatchback category in the current fiscal, with more than 20 per cent share with an average monthly sale of around 6,000 units in FY22, Tata Motors said in a release. Moreover, the car clocked its maximum sales of 7,550 units in March this year, it added. "We have crossed a major milestone, rolling out the 1,00,000th unit, during these challenging times and are grateful for the constant support and loyalty of our customers and partners.
