Didn't even spare name of 'Mahadev': PM attacks Baghel on betting app row

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday attacked Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel over the alleged 'Mahadev' betting app scam, and said the Congress leader should tell what links he has with the accused in the case. Modi was addressing a public meeting in Durg city of poll-bound Chhattisgarh, a day after the Enforcement Directorate (ED) claimed that a forensic analysis and a statement made by a 'cash courier' have led to "startling allegations" that Mahadev betting app promoters paid about Rs 508 crore to Chhattisgarh CM Baghel so far. Modi also announced that his government's free ration scheme Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana for 80 crore poor will be extended for next five years. Accusing the Congress of abusing him and the entire Other Backward Classes (OBC) community, Modi said he was not scared of abuses. "Congress government in Chhattisgarh has not spared any chance to loot you. They have not even spared the name of 'Mahadev'. Just two days ago, a major ...

Congress funding Chhattisgarh campaign with betting operators' money: BJP

The BJP on Saturday accused the Congress of using hawala money brought by illegal betting operators to fund its poll campaign in Chhattisgarh as it targeted Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel over the allegation that he received over Rs 500 crore kickback. Never before in our electoral history had people seen such evidence, Union Minister Smriti Irani told a press conference, accusing Baghel of fighting the polls not with the support of people but hawala and betting operators. "Satta (power) me rah kar satta (betting) ka khel khela hai (he has played the game of betting while being in power)," she said, attacking Baghel. The chief minister has in turn accused the BJP of using central investigation agencies to target him ahead of the assembly polls in the state on November 7 and 17. Hitting back, Irani said the Enforcement Directorate's probe is based on the details of investigations by police in Chhattisgarh as well as Andhra Pradesh and asked if Baghel is putting his own government in

ED alleges Mahadev App promoters gave Rs 508 cr to Chhattisgarh CM

The Enforcement Directorate claimed Friday it has recorded a statement of a 'cash courier' who alleged that the promoters of the Mahadev betting app have paid Rs 508 crore to Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel till now, and that it is a "subject matter of investigation". The courier, Asim Das, has been arrested by the agency after it recovered Rs 5.39 crore from him in the poll-bound state. The Mahadev online betting app and its promoters are being investigated by the ED under the anti-money laundering law. "From the questioning of Asim Das, and from the forensic examination of the phone recovered from him, and examination of an email sent by Shubam Soni (one of the high ranking accused of Mahadev network) many startling allegations have come forth, namely, that regular payments have been made in the past and so far around Rs 508 crore have been paid by Mahadev APP promoters to Bhupesh Baghel, Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh," the ED said in a statement. Baghel's 'corrupt' govt doesn't have right to remain in power: Nadda

BJP president JP Nadda on Sunday accused the Bhupesh Baghel government in Chhattisgarh of indulging in "corruption" and said the Congress-led dispensation does not have the right to remain in power in the state. The 90-member Chhattisgarh assembly will go to polls in two phases on November 7 and 17. Nadda was addressing the 'Booth Vijya Sankalp Abhiyan' programme in Amlidih area under Raipur Rural constituency after listening to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'Mann Ki Baat' radio programme there. He asked the BJP workers to visit every single house under their respective poll booths and encourage people to cast vote in next month's state elections. We have been watching Bhupesh Baghel's corrupt, incompetent, unbelievable and unimaginable government. I say unbelievable because have you ever seen the secretary of a CM lodged in jail for years. What evidence does one need when corruption is written on the forehead, Nadda said and asked people whether such a "corrupt" government should
