Alleging that nobody during the Congress rule in Assam got government jobs without paying a bribe, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday said he is aiming at providing employment to two lakh youths in his tenure. Addressing a function to hand over financial assistance to young entrepreneurs, he said already 1.4 lakh youths have got jobs in the state since he assumed charge as the CM. "The youths during the Congress rule could not believe that they would get government jobs without paying a bribe. Even for low-paying jobs, they were required to pay Rs 1 crore of bribe," he claimed. For the chairman post of the Assam Public Service Commission (APSC), the Congress government had chosen those who could "collect money" from job aspirants, Sarma alleged. "An era full of thorns has passed. Now, we have been able to conduct recruitment tests transparently without any bribe," he added. The CM said that 1.4 lakh youths have already "got government jobs against its target of one lakh"
Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar on Monday said legal options would be explored in the wake of a senior BJP MLA claiming that a "great leader" of his party has set aside a huge amount of money to topple the Congress government and become Chief Minister. The BJP legislator Basanagouda Patil Yatnal, however, also said on Sunday that his party's central leadership and MLAs are opposed to any such "operation and horse-trading", adding, the government would fall on its own. He did not reveal the name of the "great leader" who he alleged had set aside Rs 1,000 crore to bring down the government and "become Chief Minister." I have convened a meeting of the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC). They' have earmarked Rs 1,200 crore to overturn our government. We will discuss with our legal team. I have also brought this matter to the notice of the party high command, Shivakumar, who is also the Congress state president, told reporters here. Whatever is there, the matter

He also asserted that the Congress will form a government in Haryana and bring about a change. Addressing a rally in Naraingarh in Ambala district, he said the fight is between the Congress and BJP and their ideologies. "On one hand justice and on the other hand injustice", he said. Rahul Gandhi was joined by his sister Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and senior Congress leaders from Haryana Bhupinder Singh Hooda and Kumari Selja at the rally. Hitting out the BJP government, he said it belongs to big industrialists. "In Haryana we don't need such a government, but the one of farmers, labourers and poor, he said. Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Monday targeted the BJP government in Haryana, and said the people of the state should change those who speak about "changing" the Constitution and "insult" them at every level. In her first poll rally for the October 5 assembly polls, she said the people of Haryana have always protected the country. "Farmers, jawans and sportspersons kept the honour of the country," she said. "The BJP has been in government for the past 10 years in Haryana. What did they give you in return of protecting this honour? They (BJP government) insulted you at every level," she charged. "There is a lot of unemployment here. How many of you got employment," she asked the gathering. Attacking the BJP government over the issues faced by farmers, she said, "You held a protest against them and you got tear gas shells and you got 'lathis. You were not heard". Taking a dig at the BJP government's claim of giving MSP on 24 crops, she said out of those 24, 10 crops are n
The Congress on Monday dismissed as "half-truths" the government's assertions of creating eight crore employment opportunities between 2021 and 2024 and 6.2 crore net subscribers joining the EPFO database, and said no "spin-doctoring" can take away from the fact that 2014-24 has seen "jobloss growth". Congress general secretary in-charge communications Jairam Ramesh said that amidst the "U-turns and scandals" that have marked the last few months of this "tottering" government, "the non-biological PM and his drum beaters have tried to find some solace in their economic record, claiming to have created eight crore employment opportunities between 2021 and 2024". "This claim initially emerged from the RBI KLEMS data, which we had earlier countered on July 15th, 2024. The Government's spin doctors have now mustered another statistic - that of 6.2 crore net subscribers joining the Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) database between September 2017 and March 2024. Both claims are

"No senior leader from the Congress was campaigning in Haryana till now and now Gandhi is venturing on political tourism. He is welcome to see the development we have done in the state in the last ten years. However, he will be faced with questions from voters about the 'kharchi' and 'parchi' that was rampant during the tenure of Bhupinder Hooda," Saini told PTI here. Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday termed Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge's remarks on Prime Minister Narendra Modi at a public meeting in Jammu and Kashmir "absolutely distasteful and disgraceful". Shah said "a bitter display of spite", Kharge unnecessarily dragged the prime minister into his personal health matters by saying that he would die only after removing Modi from power. At an election rally in Jasrota in Jammu on Sunday, Kharge was taken ill as he suffered a "syncopal attack" but resumed his speech after a brief pause, saying he won't die before PM Modi is removed from power. "I am 83 years old. I am not going to die so early. I will stay alive till PM Modi is removed from power," the Congress leader said. "I wanted to talk. But due to dizziness, I have sat down. The two-day 'Chintan Baithak' of extended core committee of the Delhi BJP held at Ranthambhore in Rajasthan concluded on Sunday, with a resolution to better the result in the upcoming assembly polls. A collective decision was made in the two days 'Chintan Baithak' that the Delhi BJP will contest the 2025 assembly elections with the aim of performing better than the Lok Sabha polls, state president Virendra Sachdeva said in a statement. The BJP won all the seven parliamentary constituencies in Delhi in the elections in this year. The party got more votes than the AAP and its alliance partners Congress in 52 out of 70 Assembly segments that comprise the seven Lok Sabha seats.
