Former Haryana minister Ranjit Singh Chautala and seven other leaders were expelled by the BJP for six years on Sunday, after they decided to contest the October 5 state Assembly polls as independent candidates. Several Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders and workers on Sunday joined the Congress in the presence of its Delhi president Devender Yadav, an official statement said. Yadav offered them Congress scarfs to welcome them into the party at the DPCC office. Yadav alleged that if the law and order situation has hit rock bottom in the national capital, both the BJP and AAP governments were equally responsible for that, the statement added. After coming out of jail, Kejriwal finds faults with everyone, including the ministers of his own government, forgetting the fact that he did not leave the chief minister's chair for more than five months when he was in jail, Yadav said, adding it paralysed governance in Delhi when the national capital suffered the ravages of waterlogging. When the Congress was in power, the law and order situation was effectively under control, people got potable water round the clock, and drains and sewers were de-silted before every monsoon to prevent waterlogging, he ..

Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut on Sunday alleged some Enforcement Directorate officials were extorting huge sums of money from people in connivance with BJP leaders and asserted these illegalities will be exposed when his party comes to power. Speaking to reporters, Raut further alleged Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis knows about those indulging in such illegalities. "One Jitu Navlani, who was employed as an agent of the ED, was involved in extorting money. Our MVA government pursued legal action against him. It is believed he had the support of both the ED and BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis," Raut alleged. The BJP on Sunday lashed out at PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti for "shedding crocodile tears" and indulging in "votebank politics" after the former chief minister cancelled her poll campaign over the killing of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah. Labelling her as "pro-militant", BJP national spokesperson R P Singh said, "By cancelling her campaigning, she has shown she is shedding tears over the death of terrorists. It is her habit to call terrorists martyrs. She had similarly wept for Burhan Wani some time back." However, she is not alone in in expressing solidarity with terrorists, he said. "Sonia Gandhi too shed tears for the terrorists killed in Batla House. All leaders of the INDIA alliance do this for votebank politics. For them, the country doesn't come first. She is doing this for votebank," he charged. The BJP leader's remarks came after Mehbooba announced that she was going to cancel her poll campaign on Sunday. "Cancelling my campaign tomorrow (Sunday) in solidarity with the .

Addressing a poll rally here, he recalled the days when he worked for party organisation in Haryana and said, "It has been my fortune that Haryana has given me a lot, taught me a lot." Congress general secretary in-charge communications Jairam Ramesh posed four questions to Prime Minister Narendra Modi ahead of his political rally in Jammu on Saturday. Why has the security situation in Jammu deteriorated, he asked. "The BJP, despite its claims to be the monopolist of nationalism, has presided over an unprecedented deterioration of security in Jammu," Ramesh said in a post on X. The Congress leader said militancy in Jammu is making its presence felt after a gap of nearly 15 years. Around the start of 2024, the administration claimed that the number of active terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir had come down to double digits -- 31 -- with four active terrorists in the Jammu region, he said.
