St Stephen's College, school in Dwarka get bomb threat, search op underway

The St Stephen's College and St Thomas School in Delhi received bomb threats through email on Tuesday, prompting a rush of emergency services at both premises and a thorough search operation by authorities, police said. A team comprising the Delhi Police, a bomb squad, dog squad, the fire department rushed to the spot and carried out a detailed inspection. Deputy Commissioner of Police (North) Raja Banthia said St Stephen's College reported that they received the bomb threat at 7:15 am. "The mail said that four IED bombs and two RDX have been planted in the premises and library of the college. It further said that it will explode by 2 pm," Banthia was quoted as saying in a police statement. Teams from Maurice Nagar Police Station and other agencies reached the spot. The entire premises was cordoned off and a thorough check is being conducted. So far nothing suspicious has been found, officials said. Three Delhi schools receive bomb threats, emergency services activated

At least three schools in the national capital received bomb threats on Monday morning, prompting the emergency services to be kicked in, a Delhi Police official said. He said that around 8 am, police received calls regarding the bomb threats from CRPF Schools in Prashant Vihar and Dwarka Sector 16, as well as another school in Chanakyapuri. "Police teams immediately moved in to check the school premises," he said. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Dwarka) Ankit Singh said, "Early on Monday morning, Dwarka North police station received a PCR call informing about bomb threat at CRPF School here. The area was promptly sanitised. Local police, sniffer dogs and bomb disposal squads reached the school and conducted due checks." He added that cyber police experts are ascertaining the source of the email. "Security has been tightened in the school. Nothing suspicious has been found so far," the DCP said.

Airline gets bomb threat email; nothing suspicious found at Pune airport

A private airline's office at Pune airport received a bomb threat, following which checks were conducted at the international airport here but nothing suspicious was found, police said on Tuesday. The airline received an email at 1.25 am on Sunday which said: "Powerful explosive devices are hidden inside the backpacks placed around the airport and planes. You must evacuate the building urgently...people will die." A customer care executive of the airline read the email at around 6.45 am and alerted authorities, an official from Vimantal police station said. After being alerted, personnel from the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) and local police conducted extensive searches in and outside the airport premises. Security boosted at Patna airport after bomb scare; turns out to be a hoax

Security has been beefed up at the Jayaprakash Narayan International Airport (JPNI) following a bomb threat received via email, though it turned out to be a hoax, a police official said on Tuesday. "A bomb threat through email was received at the JPNI airport in Patna a few days ago. The authorities convened a high-level meeting at the airport and further security measures were implemented. The email turned out to be a hoax," City SP Central, Patna, Diksha, told PTI. Security was beefed up following the threat at the airport, she said. "A case has been registered. We are now trying to trace the IP address and catch the sender," she said. The cyber cell of the Economic Offences Unit is also investigating the case to find out the sender, she added.

Jabalpur airport in MP gets bomb threat, turns out to be hoax

The Jabalpur airport in Madhya Pradesh received a bomb threat which turned out to be a hoax after a search of the premises, an official said on Monday. The officials of the airport, located at Dumna in Jabalpur, informed that an email threatening to blow up the facility was received on Sunday, following which the premises was evacuated and an investigation launched, Additional Superintendent of Police Suryakant Sharma said. "During the investigation, it was found that the mail was sent to 40 to 41 places simultaneously. It seems likely the work of some miscreant," he said. Immediately after getting the information, Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS), dog squad, local police along with the Central Industrial Security Force started a search operation. "But no such (suspicious) thing was found. After this, the flights were operated on time," the official said. Bomb threat to Heavy Industries Ministry triggers alert at Udyog Bhawan

The secretary of the Ministry of Heavy Industries received an e-mail on Friday threatening to blow up Udyog Bhawan, housing several central departments, sending the security apparatus into intense action, officials said. The e-mail threatened to blow up the building near the Central Secretariat using an improvised explosive device (IED) was received in the noon, prompting security officials to evacuate the premises by 3.15 pm. According to the Delhi Fire Service, they received a call regarding the threat e-mail at 1.01 pm and a team of fire brigade was rushed to the spot. Police said that the threat e-mail was sent to senior officials of the ministry, headquartered in Udyog Bhawan. The email reportedly mentioned plans to target the building with an IED. Security agencies have launched an investigation, and bomb detection and disposal squads were immediately deployed to sanitize the premises. The premises has been evacuated and a search operations is still underway.

Delhi HC issues notice to govt, police over plea on school bomb threats SOP

The Delhi High Court on Thursday issued notices to government's chief secretary and police in the capital after a plea alleged failure on their part in formulating a comprehensive mechanism to combat emergent situations such as bomb threats in schools. Justice Anish Dayal called it a serious issue, saying it required the urgent attention of authorities especially when repeated hoax calls had become very common and troubled children, their parents and schools. The plea before Justice Dayal claimed authorities were in contempt of the court's November 14 2024 order which directed them to develop a comprehensive action plan with a detailed standard operating procedure (SOP) to address such concerns. The directions required the government agencies and police to develop the mechanism within eight weeks of the issuance.
