Nickel futures up on positive spot cues

Nickel prices were up by 0.43 per cent to Rs 948.80 per kg in futures trading today as speculators raised their bets, taking positive cues from spot market on pick up in demand. At the Multi Commodity Exchange, nickel for delivery in August rose by Rs 4.10, or 0.43 per cent to Rs 948.80 per kg in a business turnover of 1,132 lots. On similar lines, the metal for delivery in September contract Analysts said widening of positions by traders on the back of pick up in demand from alloy-makers at domestic spot markets, mainly led to a rise in nickel prices at futures trade. PTI KPS SUN s traded higher by Rs 3.80, or 0.40 per cent to Rs 953.50 per kg in 194 lots.

Upsurge in demand lifts lead futures by 0.58%

Lead prices traded higher by 0.58 per cent to Rs 147.15 per kg in futures market today as traders built up fresh positions after pick-up in demand at the spot market. At the Multi Commodity Exchange, lead for delivery in August edged up by 85 paise, or 0.58 per cent to Rs 147.15 per kg in a business turnover of 538 lots. On similar lines, the metal for delivery in September was trading higher by 75 paise, or 0.51 per cent to Rs 148.30 per kg in 67 lots. Analysts said fresh positions created by participants due to improved demand from battery-makers in the physical market mainly led to the rise in lead prices at futures trade.

JV with GIC to drive faster growth in development of office, retail space: DLF Chairman

Realty major DLF would achieve faster growth in the development of offices and retail space on the back of its partnership with Singapore's sovereign wealth fund GIC, the company's Chairman KP Singh said. However, he said the parent company DLF would also continue to build commercial projects, separate from the joint venture with the GIC. Singapore's investment firm had bought 33.34 per cent stake in DLF's rental arm DLF Cyber City Developers Ltd (DCCDL) for about Rs 9,000 crore. DLF has the remaining 66.66 per cent stake in the JV firm DCCDL. "Acknowledging the strength of your company, GIC Real Estate has entered into one of the largest transactions by becoming a shareholder in DLF Cyber City Developers Ltd (DCCDL), which has a huge annuity portfolio," Singh told shareholders in the annual report for the 2017-18 fiscal year. Wheat futures soften on low demand

Wheat prices eased by 0.10 per cent to Rs 1,993 per quintal in futures market today as speculators cut down holdings amid fall in demand at the spot market against adequate stocks position. At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, wheat for delivery in September declined by Rs 2, or 0.10 per cent to Rs 1,993 per quintal with an open interest of 3,220 lots. Market analysts said offloading of positions by traders owing to muted demand in the physical markets against sufficient stocks position on increased arrivals from producing belts, led to decline in wheat prices in futures trade.

Refined soya oil futures soften on muted demand

Amid easing demand at domestic spot market against adequate stocks position, refined soya oil prices shed 0.08 per cent to Rs 727.50 per 10 kg in futures trade today as speculators cut bets. At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, refined soya oil for delivery in September declined by 55 paise, or 0.08 per cent to Rs 727.50 per 10 kg with an open interest of 39,370 lots. Similarly, the oil for delivery in October contracts shed 50 paise, or 0.07 per cent to Rs 727.50 per 10 kg in 20,280 lots. Traders said cutting down of positions by traders as demand eased in the physical market against ample stocks position on increased supplies from producing regions put pressure on refined soya oil prices in futures trade.

The Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Act (RERA) shall undoubtedly boost consumer confidence and pave the way for accelerated demand for housing products and facilitate flow of investments into the real estate sector, both from global and Indian investors, he told shareholders in the annual report for the 2017-18 fiscal year. The implementation of RERA, which came into effect from May last year, would also streamline norms for transparency and a compliance mechanism for timely delivery of good quality housing projects, he added. 115 tehsils in Maharashtra declared 'cotton growing' areas

The Maharashtra government has declared 115 tehsils as 'cotton growing' areas in the state, a decision aimed at boosting the textile industry, an official said today. This will bring a focused attention on cotton cultivation and issues like the crop's growth, supply and processing, the government official said. The state government announced earlier this week that 115 tehsils in 18 districts of Marathwada, North Maharashtra and Vidarbha regions have been identified as cotton growing areas. "Following the identification of tehsils, the state will collect data on how much cotton is produced and locally used by textile units. If less than 50 per cent of cotton produced in a tehsil is locally used, the government will promote setting up a textile unit there," the official said. Aluminium futures gain 0.26% on firm spot demand

Aluminium prices edged 0.26 per cent higher to Rs 151.45 per kg in futures trade today as speculators built up fresh positions amid uptick in demand from consuming industries at domestic spot market. However, weak trend overseas capped the rise. At the Multi Commodity Exchange, aluminium for delivery in August edged higher by 40 paise, or 0.26 per cent, to Rs 151.45 per kg in business turnover of 150 lots. Similarly, the metal for delivery in September was up by 30 paise, or 0.20 per cent, to Rs 152.55 per kg in 60 lots. Analysts said fresh positions created by participants, tracking a firm trend at the spot market on rising demand from consuming industries, boosted aluminium prices at futures trade here. Hathway Cable raises Rs 100 cr from promoter group entity

Cable services provider Hathway Cable and Datacom has raised closed to Rs 100 crore though allotment of equity shares to a promoter group entity on preferential basis. "The board of directors of the company... approved allotment of 30,800,000 fully paid-up equity shares... the company to Hathway Investments, an entity forming part of the promoter group, at a price of Rs 32.35 per share aggregating to Rs 99.63 crore on preferential basis," Hathway Cable and Datacom said in a regulatory filing. The company said, consequent to the preferential allotment, the total shareholding of the promoter/promoter group entities in the company now stands increased from 43.48 per cent to 45.50 per cent. Shares of Hathway Cable and Datacom were trading 1.32 per cent lower at Rs 18.70 apiece on BSE.

Copper futures fall 0.26% on muted demand, profit-booking

Copper prices drifted lower by 0.26 per cent to Rs 429.30 per kg in futures trade today as participants reduced positions amid muted demand at the domestic spot markets. Besides, profit-booking too weighed on prices. At the Multi Commodity Exchange, copper for delivery in November shed Rs 1.10, or 0.26 per cent, to Rs 429.30 per kg in a business turnover of 51 lots. Similarly, the metal for delivery in August fell by Rs 1.05, or 0.25 per cent, to Rs 420.90 per kg in 396 lots. Analysts said offloading of positions by traders due to weak demand at the spot markets amid profit-booking led to decline in copper futures.

Silver futures slip on weak global trend

Silver prices drifted 0.22 per cent lower to Rs 38,877 per kg in futures market today, tracking a weak trend overseas. At the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver for delivery in December fell by Rs 83, or 0.22 per cent, to Rs 38,877 per kg in a business turnover of 16 lots. The white metal for delivery in September was trading lower by Rs 75, or 0.20 per cent, to Rs 37,060 per kg in 55 lots. Analysts attributed the fall in silver futures to a weak trend in the precious metals in overseas markets as a firmer dollar reduced demand for the precious metals as a safe heaven investment. Meanwhile, silver was trading 0.44 per cent lower at USD 14.66 an ounce in Singapore today.
