Political and business leaders paid heartfelt tributes to ITC Chairman Y C Deveshwar, who passed away Saturday morning after a brief illness, saying he leaves behind a rich legacy. Finance Minister Arun Jaitley tweeted: "Saddened by the death of Yogi C Deveshwar, Chairman ITC. Yogi excelled as a corporate professional and an entrepreneur and took his company to great heights. May God render peace to the departed soul & give to his family strength to bear this loss." West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee described him as a "giant in the corporate world". ITC Chairman Yogi Deveshwar passes away at 72, condolences pour in

Legendary corporate leader Yogesh Chander Deveshwar, who spearheaded multi-business conglomerate ITC group as its chairman for over two decades, passed away on Saturday at the age of 72.He is survived by his wife and son. In 2011, Deveshwar received the Padma Bhushan, India's third-highest civilian award.Deveshwar was an alumnus of the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi and Harvard Business School. Talks with IMF continues as Imran khan rejected first draft of bailout package: Finance Ministry

After Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan rejected the first draft for a bailout package, the country's Foreign Ministry on Saturday said that the talks with International Monetary Fund (IMF) are still underway.The talks, which were to be wrapped by May 10, will continue as "more time is required" to reach a consensus, reported Geo TV."We have made good progress in our discussions with the visiting IMF mission. Syndicate Bank reports net loss of Rs 2,587 crore in FY 19

Government-owned Syndicate Bank suffered a net loss of Rs 2,587 crore during 2018-19 on account of bad loans compared to a net loss of Rs 3,223 crore in the previous fiscal year.Gross non-performing assets (NPAs) dipped marginally to Rs 24,680 crore in March 2019 from Rs 26,187 crore during December 2018 and Rs 25,759 crore in March 2018. In percentage terms, the gross NPA ratio works out to 11.37 in March 2019, 12.54 in December 2018 and 11.53 in March 2018.Total advances on March 31 this year stood at Rs 2.17 lakh crore, down from Rs 2.23 lakh crore a year ago. Though retail advances showed marginal growth, corporate and MSME advances declined.Overall provisions for FY 19 totalled Rs 5,407 crore as against Rs 7,087 crore in the previous fiscal. Net interest income rose from Rs 6,552 crore to Rs 6,648 crore. But operating expenses went up to Rs 6,053 crore from Rs 5,494 crore.In the fourth quarter (January to March) of 2018-19, however, the net profit was Rs 128 crore against a net ..
