Industry body India Energy Storage (IESA) has demanded that the government reduce the goods and services tax (GST) on batteries and electric vehicles charging infrastructure services as well battery swapping. Ahead of the India Energy Storage Week 2024 (IESW) in New Delhi from July 1-5, 2024, the IESA also suggested expansion of production-linked incentive (PLI) schemes for battery components and battery raw materials processing industry, in a wishlist submitted to the government, a statement said. "Lithium ion batteries current GST rate is 18 per cent and other batteries is 28 per cent. We want all batteries to come under the 18 per cent GST bracket. Charging infra services and battery swapping services should be reduced to 5 or 18 per cent from the existing 28 per cent," IESA President Rahul Walawalkar said in the statement. Mahindra & Mahindra on Thursday said it has tied up with a unit of Adani Total Gas to establish electric vehicle charging infrastructure across the country. The auto major and Adani Total Energies E-Mobility Ltd (ATEL) have inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) in this regard. Green charging solutions provider Servotech Power Systems Ltd on Friday said it has bagged a Rs 111-crore order from Indian Oil Corporation and other original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) for the supply of 1,400 DC fast chargers. The company will manufacture, supply and install 1,400 DC chargers in two variants of 60 kW and 120 kW, the company said in a statement. The DC charger will be installed at Indian Oil petrol pumps and other prioritised locations, it said. The company in February bagged two orders that comprised a contract for 1,500 DC fast EV chargers from Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (HPCL) and OEMs, and another for 1,800 DC EV chargers from Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL). With the latest project, the total number of EV charger orders from oil marketing companies and EV charger OEMs stands at 4,700 units, it said. Servotech aims to install all these chargers by the end of FY 2024-25.

Servotech Power Systems Ltd (SPSL) on Tuesday said it has secured an order worth Rs 120 crore from Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) to install 1,800 fast EV charging stations across various locations in India. The project involves two charger variants, 60 kW and 120 kW, Servotech said, adding that it aims to complete this project by the end of this year. In a statement the company said it has bagged an order of 1,800 DC fast EV charging stations from BPCL and the order value is Rs 120 crore. "Our partnership focuses on establishing a dynamic EV charging network that makes EV charging accessible for EV owners nationwide. "Through cutting-edge DC Fast EV chargers, we aim to play a pivotal role in realizing India's ambitious goals in the E-Mobility sector, bringing the nation closer to becoming an EV-powered nation," Sarika Bhatia, Director of Servotech Power Systems said. Electric scooter maker Ather Energy on Friday said it has partnered with Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) to expand its charging network. Through the collaboration, Ather will gain access to BPCL's network of over 21,000 fuel stations across the country, facilitating the installation of Ather's public fast-charging grid. Ather already has more than 1,400 chargers across 100 cities. "Our partnership with BPCL builds the momentum even further to create a widespread, nationwide fast-charging network," Ather Energy Chief Business Officer Ravneet Phokela said in a statement.
