Electric vehicle charging infra platform CHARGE+ZONE and Evnnovator, an end-to-end EV charging aggregator, have partnered with Mercedes-Benz for providing a vertically integrated charging solution in the country. Mercedes-Benz's existing charging network is now seamlessly integrated with over 150 DC fast charging stations and over 100 type 2 chargers already operating on Evnnovator's eMSP platform, as per a statement. Going forward, the integration would result in a robust network of approximately 500 charging points accessible nationwide to all EV customers through the FICH app, it added. The German premium car maker has the largest luxury-OEM backed charging infrastructure in the country. Electric scooter maker Ather Energy on Friday said it has partnered with Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) to expand its charging network. Through the collaboration, Ather will gain access to BPCL's network of over 21,000 fuel stations across the country, facilitating the installation of Ather's public fast-charging grid. Ather already has more than 1,400 chargers across 100 cities. "Our partnership with BPCL builds the momentum even further to create a widespread, nationwide fast-charging network," Ather Energy Chief Business Officer Ravneet Phokela said in a statement. As electric vehicle adoption continues to grow, the company believes that strategic alliances like these play a crucial role in making charging infrastructure more accessible, he added.

The Board of Directors of Siemens Limited has approved the sale and transfer of low voltage motors and geared motors businesses, including related customer service business to Siemens Large Drives India Pvt Ltd, an entity wholly owned by Siemens AG, for a consideration of Rs 2,200 crore with effect from October 1, 2023, a company statement said. The transaction is subject to fulfilment of conditions precedents agreed upon between the parties, including receipt of requisite shareholders, statutory and regulatory approvals, as applicable, it added. The West Bengal Housing Infrastructure Development Corporation (WBHIDCO) in partnership with a private firm Powerbank has established "Eastern India's largest" public fast charging hub for electric vehicles (EVs) near Kolkata. The EV Charging Hub located at New Town is currently capable of fast-charging 25 vehicles at a time, WBHIDCO said in a statement. Further expansions will allow 50-75 vehicles to enjoy fast charging and slow charging facilities. The public can access these charging facilities in a hassle-free manner through the Powerbank EV charging mobile application," it said. The charging hub is located near the Biswa Bangla Convention Centre, owned by WBHIDCO, an agency of the West Bengal government.
BSES discoms BRPL and BYPL have facilitated the installation of around 2300 charging points in Delhi for electric vehicles (EVs) and are in the process to set up 900 more in the coming months, company's officials said on Tuesday. The 2300 charging points installed at over 900 locations across south, east, central and west Delhi include 1,123 private ones, 745 public and 419 for captive BSES use, the officials said. The company is in talks with several partners to expand the charging infrastructure further, they said. "BSES will facilitate the installation of additional 900-plus charging points over the next few months," an official said, adding BSES discoms aim to convert their entire fleet of vehicles to EVs by 2030. Presently, BSES has 80 EVs and the number is expected to reach to 150 in the next two years, they said. Electric vehicle (EV) charging station business may require an investment to the tune of Rs 1.05 lakh crore by 2032 as the country is expected to need 2.30 lakh such facilities during this period, a report said on Wednesday. This massive investment will be required to cater to the growing demand for EVs, which is expected to grow at a compounded annual growth rate (CAGR) of 39 per cent, and the resultant requirement of power, credit ratings agency India Ratings and Research (Ind-Ra) said in its report. It also said that commercial EV charging stations are expected to be a major contributing factor in the penetration of these vehicles. Ind-Ra also believes EV penetration for the overall automobile industry would reach 40 per cent by FY32 from about 4 per cent this fiscal.
