Delhi logs 628 new Covid cases, 3 deaths in last 24 hrs: Health bulletin

Delhi reported 628 new Covid cases and three more deaths due to the infection on Monday, while the positivity rate stood at 8.06 percent, according to data shared by the city health department here. The fresh cases were detected out of 7,793 Covid tests conducted the previous day. Delhi's Covid case tally reached 19,32,026 while the death toll rose to 26,256. The department had not issued a health bulletin on Sunday. On Saturday, the city saw six deaths due to COVID-19 while the positivity rate stood at 7.8 per cent. On Friday, the city logged 1,447 Covid cases and one death, while the positivity rate was 5.98 per cent. Delhi had recorded 1,934 Covid cases and zero death on Thursday, while the positivity rate was 8.10 per cent.

Mumbai sees 1,062 new Covid cases, toll rises by 5 for second day in a row

Mumbai on Monday reported 1,062 COVID-19 cases and five fatalities, taking the tally to 11,08,433 and the toll to 19,604, a civic official said. The metropolis had reported five deaths on Sunday as well, which took the total number of fatalities in June so far to 38, a manifold rise from three in May and four in April, he pointed out. The five deaths comprised four women above the age of 66 and a 78-year-old man, all of whom were suffering from comorbidities, including heart disease, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation official said. Of the 1,062 new cases, only 68 were hospitalised, with just seven of them needing oxygen support, he said. As per BMC data, the number of people on oxygen support was 84, while just 668 out of 24,768 hospital beds earmarked for COVID-19 treatment are currently occupied. Chhattisgarh health minister infected with Covid-19 for third time

Chhattisgarh Health Minister TS Singh Deo on Saturday informed he has tested positive for COVID-19. This is the third time the minister, who returned from Delhi on Friday night, has contracted the infection. "After returning from Delhi, I got my COVID-19 test done here in which I tested positive for the coronavirus. Right now I am fine and as per suggestions of doctors, I am complying with the home isolation protocols," Singh Deo tweeted. Earlier, Singh Deo had tested positive in January this year and March last year. As on Friday, Chhattisgarh has a COVID-19 caseload of 11,53,552, including 14,036 deaths, while the active tally is 643.
