MP govt to let NDDB operate cooperative dairies for 5 yrs; Cong opposes

The Madhya Pradesh government has given its consent to hand over for the next five years the operations of the Madhya Pradesh State Cooperative Dairy Federation and the milk unions affiliated to it to the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB). This decision was made during a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Tuesday here in Bhopal. The opposition Congress, however, resisted the move, claiming that it was Gujarat co-operative dairy Amul's "backdoor" attempts to take over MP's state-run milk brand Sanchi. "During the meeting, it was agreed that the Madhya Pradesh State Cooperative Dairy Federation and its associated milk unions will be managed and operated by the NDDB for the next five years. For this, necessary approvals will be obtained and legal action will be taken," an official release said. CM Yadav said that there is a consensus on giving responsibility to the NDDB to increase the income of farmers and cattle keepers by making the state a leader in milk ...

Dairy industry to witness 13-14% revenue growth this year on strong demand

India's dairy industry is expected to witness healthy revenue growth of 13-14 per cent this financial year, as strong consumer demand continues along with improved supply of raw milk, a report said on Wednesday. While demand will be supported by rising consumption of value added products (VAP), ample milk supply will be driven by good monsoon prospects, Crisil Ratings said in a report. Rise in raw milk supply will also lead to higher working capital requirements for dairy players, the report noted. Though continued capital expenditure (capex) by organised dairies over the next two fiscals will result in debt levels inching up, the credit profiles will be stable supported by strong balance sheets. "Amidst modest growth of 2-4 per cent in realisation, the dairy industry's revenues are seen rising on healthy 9-11 per cent growth in volumes. VAP segment - 40 per cent contributor to the industry revenues - will be the primary driver, fueled by rising income levels and consumer transitio

The solid-waste monitoring committee of the National Green Tribunal (NGT), which recently held a review meeting, asked the MCD to submit an action plan, including zone-wise details of dairy waste generated in their areas by July 31. In February, the NGT constituted the committee with Lieutenant Governor V K Saxena as its head. The panel submitted its report on Monday. In its report, the panel said that the NDMC and Delhi Cantonment Board (DCB) informed that there is no dairy functioning in their jurisdictional area. MCD officials did not respond to the questionnaire sent to them by PTI in this regard.
