A court here on Wednesday directed police to conduct an enquiry into social media influencer Sapna Gill's complaint of molestation against cricketer Prithvi Shaw in 2023. Metropolitan Magistrate S C Tayde directed the police to submit a report of the enquiry by June 19. The court, however, dismissed Gill's plea seeking action against the police for not registering a First Information Report against Shaw and others on her complaint. Shaw had denied the allegations against him. Gill had alleged that Shaw had molested her at a pub in suburban Andheri. Gill was arrested in February 2023 with some others in connection with an attack on Shaw following an argument over clicking selfies at a suburban hotel. She is currently out on bail. After being granted bail, Gill had approached the Airport police station in Andheri with a complaint against Shaw, his friend Ashish Yadav and others for alleged molestation and outraging modesty. She later moved to magistrate court after police didn't
Delhi Capitals would be keen to prove that their comfortable win against Chennai Super Kings was not a flash in the pan while Kolkata Knight Riders would be eyeing a hat-trick of victories when the two sides face off in the IPL here on Wednesday. The Capitals would be buoyed by the 20-run victory here on Sunday, their first of the season, against defending champions CSK who were outsmarted by Rishabh Pant and Co. in all departments of the game. And come Wednesday, the Capitals will have to put another such performance against KKR, whose batters pummelled Royal Challengers Bengaluru bowlers to notch their second win of the season on March 29. For DC, the onus will be on Prithvi Shaw and veteran Australian David Warner to provide a solid start. Meanwhile, Pant continues his inspirational journey. After two scratchy innings, the skipper gave a glimpse of his devastating best as he scored his maiden fifty (51 off 32 balls) of the season and seems to be slowly finding his groove. The l

Delhi Capitals skipper Rishabh Pant has copped a Rs 12 lakh fine for maintaining a slow over rate during the IPL game against Chennai Super Kings here. Delhi Capitals pulled off a comfortable 20-run win over defending champions CSK here on Sunday. "Rishabh Pant, the Delhi Capitals captain, has been fined after his team maintained a slow over rate during their IPL match against Chennai Super Kings," an IPL statement read. "As it was his team's first offence of the season under the IPL's Code of Conduct relating to minimum over rate offences, Pant was fined Rs 12 lakhs," it added. Openers Prithvi Shaw and David Warner provided a thunderous start to the Capitals before Pant provided the final flurry to post a challenging target with a gutsy fifty. The DC bowlers, especially pacers Khaleel Ahmed and Mukesh Kumar, then rattled the CSK batters and despite veteran Mahendra Singh Dhoni's cracking 16-ball 37 not out, the defending champions suffered their first loss of the season. In the Indian Premier League, Delhi Capitals and Chennai Super Kings have come up against each other 29 times, and it is the yellow brigade which has dominated the head-to-head battle
Delhi Capitals will be aiming to rejig their out-of-depth batting order by bringing in the flamboyant Prithvi Shaw in the mix against defending champions Chennai Super Kings, in what could be safely termed as a 'battle of unequals' on Sunday's Indian Premier League match. In T20 format, reputations do go for a toss but DC in their last four meetings haven't been able to get past CSK and the margins of defeat -- 91, 27 and 77 runs respectively does paint a sorry picture. One also needs to take into account that in those three heavy losses, the core of the Delhi team has been more or less the same, save their last meeting when Rishabh Pant wasn't available. Hence a win against CSK would be considered as a big upset in the tournament. If CSK once again looks like a team to beat with all its bases nicely covered, it has been quite the opposite for the Ricky Ponting-coached DC, which has been outplayed in both departments of the game. DC's co-owners GMR and JSW have been completely mes

Their campaign not off to the best start with an injury to their lead pacer and the team guilty of a sloppy display on the field which led to a loss but Abhishek Porel's scintillating cameo was a big positive, says Delhi Capitals assistant coach Pravin Amre. DC brought in Porel as an Impact Substitute in the death overs after the other batters failed to get going. The 25-year-old wicketkeeper-batter smashed an unbeaten 32 off 10 balls to help his side post 174/9. However, the total was not enough as DC suffered a four-wicket loss in their IPL opener against Punjab Kings on Saturday. "Not the start we wanted, every team wants to start on a winning note. But there are a lot of positives from the game, our intent in batting was good. We were in a good position, then back-to-back wickets in the middle overs cost us but we came back. "We can also see the positive about Abishek Porel, the guy who came in and scored runs at a strike rate of more than 300. He got us to the par score of ...
