IPL 2024: Police to enquire molestation allegations against Prithvi Shaw

A court here on Wednesday directed police to conduct an enquiry into social media influencer Sapna Gill's complaint of molestation against cricketer Prithvi Shaw in 2023. Metropolitan Magistrate S C Tayde directed the police to submit a report of the enquiry by June 19. The court, however, dismissed Gill's plea seeking action against the police for not registering a First Information Report against Shaw and others on her complaint. Shaw had denied the allegations against him. Gill had alleged that Shaw had molested her at a pub in suburban Andheri. Gill was arrested in February 2023 with some others in connection with an attack on Shaw following an argument over clicking selfies at a suburban hotel. She is currently out on bail. After being granted bail, Gill had approached the Airport police station in Andheri with a complaint against Shaw, his friend Ashish Yadav and others for alleged molestation and outraging modesty. Kolkata Knight Riders' home IPL game against Rajasthan Royals was on Tuesday advanced by a day to April 16, while Gujarat Titans-Delhi Capitals fixture in Ahmedabad was also rescheduled by the BCCI which did not give any reason for the move. The PTI on Monday reported that the KKR-RR tie in the 2024 Indian Premier League was set to get rescheduled due to Ram Navami, but the Board did not specify any reason for the rescheduling of matches on these two dates. "The fixture between Kolkata Knight Riders & Rajasthan Royals, which was earlier scheduled to take place on April 17, 2024 at Eden Gardens, Kolkata will now be played a day prior on April 16, 2024.
