ED attaches NCR realty group's assets worth Rs 2,348 cr under PMLA act

The ED on Monday said it attached hundreds of acres of land and unsold real estate inventory in Delhi-NCR, apart from some residential units in Goa, worth Rs 2,348 crore as part of a money-laundering investigation against realty group WTC Faridabad Infrastructure Private Limited and other WTC Group entities. The federal probe agency issued a provisional attachment order under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) to attach these properties. The action has been taken in "a massive real estate fraud involving WTC Faridabad Infrastructure Private Limited and other entities of the WTC Group, headed by Ashish Bhalla", the Enforcement Directorate (ED) said. The attached assets include about 159 acres of licensed and unlicensed land, along with unsold real estate inventory across Delhi, Gurugram, Faridabad and Noida, as well as residential properties in Goa and commercial premises in Delhi-NCR, it said. Delhi CM calls rain a wake-up call, blames AAP's 'development backlog'

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta termed the pre-monsoon showers on Friday a warning sign for the capital's crumbling infrastructure, blaming it on the "decade-long development backlog" created by the previous AAP government. Taking a dig at Arvind Kejriwal, she said the AAP chief was oblivious to the problems of waterlogging and broken trees as he would be busy with his "sound-proof" sleep in the "Sheesh Mahal" -- a term the BJP gave to the former chief minister's official residence accusing it of unnecessary opulence. Gupta who visited Majnu Ka Tila area following heavy rainfall in the city stressed the need for planned urban growth to prevent such recurring crises. The city was hit by waterlogging and traffic disruptions, many due to fallen trees due to the early morning rain and storm on Friday. A house collapse in Najafgarh killed a woman and her three children as many busy road stretches, including Minto Bridge and ITO, were waterlogged, causing heavy traffic jams. The chief

Delhi-NCR schools flout RTE Act, detain students in Classes 6 and 7

Several prestigious schools of Delhi-NCR have allegedly held back students in Classes 6 and 7 in violation of the Right to Education Act of 2009, education activists and parents said. The Department of School Education and Literacy under the Ministry of Education notified rules regarding 'Examination and Holding Back in Certain Cases' in December 2024 after the Right to Education (RTE) Act 2009 was amended in 2019. "The amended rules allow schools to detain students in Classes 5 and 8 only, that too after giving them additional opportunity for re-examination within two months from the date of declaration of results," advocate and education activist Ashok Aggarwal told PTI. "Before the amendment, there was a no detention policy till Class 8. However, the government amended the Act and made a provision for detention at 5th and 8th grade. However, many private schools are dictating their terms to parents in violation of the Act." Several parents complained that schools insist they eit
