A Delhi court on Wednesday extended till December 22 the judicial custody of former Delhi deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia in the CBI case related to the alleged Delhi excise policy scam. The CBI on February 26 arrested Sisodia in connection with alleged corruption in the formulation and implementation of the now-scrapped Delhi Excise Policy 2021-22. Following this, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on March 9 arrested Sisodia in Tihar jail, in a money laundering case arising out of the excise policy matter. On Wednesday, Special Judge M K Nagpal also allowed Sisodia's application seeking directions to his bank to supply a copy of the bank statement of his savings account for a particular period. In the application, Sisodia said the statement was not being provided to him as the savings account was attached by the ED. Delhi Vigilance Minister Atishi on Wednesday submitted a supplementary report to Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on corruption allegations against Chief Secretary Naresh Kumar, claiming the bureaucrat tried to save an official in the Bamnoli land acquisition matter, government sources said. In the fresh report, Atishi reiterated her recommendation for suspension of the chief secretary, they said. There was no immediate response from the chief secretary on the supplementary report. The Supreme Court on Tuesday pulled up the Delhi government for not providing funds for the Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) corridors to Alwar and Panipat, and said if the dues were not paid within a week, the funds allocated by the AAP government for advertisements will be transferred to the project. The RRTS project entails semi-high speed rail corridors connecting Delhi to Meerut in Uttar Pradesh, Alwar in Rajasthan, and Panipat in Haryana. The apex court said budgetary provision was something which the state government should look into but if such national projects were to be affected and money was spent on advertisements, it would be inclined to direct that those funds be transferred for this project. The Delhi BJP on Monday claimed that following a NCT of Delhi RERA order, property registration has been stalled by the sub-registrars here. However, a senior revenue department officer said no directions have been issued to sub-registrars to stop property registrations. The Delhi Police has arrested a 42-year-old pharmacist for his alleged involvement in death of of a patient during surgery in a clinic in south Delhi's Greater Kailash, officials said on Sunday. The pharmacist used to refer patient to the clinic where two patients recently died during surgery. The police have arrested four persons, including a quack, in the case. Neeraj Agarwal, who runs the Agarwal Medical Centre, Jaspreet Singh (both MBBS doctors), Agarwal's wife Pooja and former laboratory technician Mahender Singh were arrested on November 14 and produced in a court on November 16, which sent them to five-day police custody. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has granted permission to 83 more shops and commercial establishments in the city to operate round the clock. Once approved by the lieutenant governor, these shops and commercial establishments will be able to operate 24 hours, according to an official statement. With this, the total number of shops and commercial establishments operating round the clock in the national capital has gone up to 635, the statement said, adding that from 1954 to 2022, only 269 shops and establishments were allowed to run 24 hours. The shop owners must comply with the provisions and regulations outlined in the Delhi Shops and Establishment Act of 1954, it said. The government will monitor these shops to ensure compliance with the regulations and take action against violations. Delhi Lieutenant Governor V K Saxena has given nod to acquire a land parcel to complete the Barapullah corridor phase-III project which was delayed by six years, Raj Niwas officials said on Saturday. According to officials, Saxena has asked the chief secretary to conduct an inquiry into the erred planning and assessment of land requirement that led to the project delay and cost escalation by Rs 362 crore. The LG has also directed for the suspension of the project's engineers in charge right from the start of the construction, if yet serving, and initiating suitable action against those who have retired, they said.
