Cyclone Phethai has hit Katrenikona town of Andhra Pradesh's East Godavari district. UP: 2 children killed after school wall collapses
At least two children were killed and about half a dozen injured after a wall of a private school building collapsed in Sector 49 in Noida on Monday.The incident occurred around 10 am.All injured children were rushed to a nearby hospital. However, two of the injured succumbed to injuries later.Taking cognizance, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has ordered a probe into the matter. He has also directed the District Magistrate to oversee rescue and relief operations."A case has been registered and action against the school owner would be taken after the investigation," said Superintendent of Police Sudha Singh.The cause of the collapse is yet to be ascertained.
4 killed, 3 injured in road accident in Katihar
Four persons were killed and three others seriously injured when a truck collided with a car and then rammed into a tea stall in Bihar's Katihar district in the early hours of Monday. The accident took place when the urea-laden truck hit the car, coming from the opposite direction on NH 31, and then rammed into the roadside stall, Kursela Police Station SHO Chittaranjan Kumar said. The truck was on its way to Purnea while the car was proceeding to Khagaria when the incident occurred between 2AM to 4AM, near a State Bank of India branch on Kursela chowk. Two persons of a family, who were travelling in the car, died on the spot while two others of the same family were injured, he said. The tea seller of the roadside shop died on the spot while another person, standing at the tea shop, was seriously injured, the SHO said. Minibus catches fire in central Kolkata
A minibus caught fire on Dufferin Road in central Kolkata on Monday noon but there was no report of any casualty. As the bus was running, some passengers saw smoke coming out of the minibus and raised an alarm. Within a short time, the fire spread inside the vehicle. The fire was brought under control within 25-30 minutes, a Fire Brigade official said. The minibus, which was coming from Howrah and headed for Metiabruz, was badly damaged. The cause of the fire was not immediately known, the official said. The passengers disembarked from the bus on their own.
Lion Air to resume search for victims of Indonesia crash
Lion Air announced Monday it was funding a multi-million dollar search effort using a Dutch company for the second black box and missing victims from doomed flight JT-610. Japanese police were investigating Monday the cause of a powerful blast that ripped through a restaurant in the country's north overnight, injuring 42 people and damaging surrounding buildings. The explosion in the city of Sapporo on Sunday night started fires and caused the partial collapse of some neighbouring buildings, forcing dozens of residents into shelters, officials said.
