Train derails in Austria, several people injured
Emergency services say that a train has derailed on a local railway in Austria and several people are injured. Franz Resperger, a spokesman for the fire service in Lower Austria province, told the Austria Press Agency that two of the train's carriages tipped over in the accident Tuesday morning in Gerersdorf, just outside St. Poelten, west of Vienna. Dozens of people were on board at the time. The train belongs to the Mariazellerbahn, a local narrow-gauge railway.
UN offers fresh fund for Afghans affected by drought
The Common Humanitarian Fund (CHF) has allocated $17 million to Afghans affected by drought, said the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) on Tuesday.
Five killed in lightning in Jharkhand
Five persons were killed and a girl sustained severe burn injuries due to lightning in Bokaro and Lohardaga district, the police said. Four minor boys were killed when lightning struck a house in which they took shelter during rain and thunderstorm in Alkusha village of Bokaro district yesterday. All the victims were rushed to a hospital in Bokaro but doctors declared them brought dead. In another incident, a girl sustained severe burn injuries when she was struck by lightning in Jara village in the district. She suffered 65 per cent burn injuries and was admitted to the Bokaro General Hospital, the police said. A Lohardaga district report said a farmer was killed due to lightning when he was returning home after working in his paddy field in Perhepat village.

Flash floods and landslides triggered by torrential rain over the weekend in Vietnam have killed 15 persons, and left 11 others missing, authorities said on Tuesday.
Mild tremors in Chamba
A low-intensity quake shook Himachal Pradesh's Chamba district this morning. No loss of life or property has been reported. The Meteorological Department said the quake of 3.3 magnitude occurred at 1: 45 am. The epicentre of the quake was at the depth of 10 km in northeast of Chamba.Mild tremors were also felt in adjoining areas. This is the fourth quake in the state in the last 12 days. The previous three quakes were felt in Chamba and Shimla districts on June 14, 17 and 23 respectively.
Passenger jets collide in S.Korea, no casualty reported
A minor collision of two passenger jets at an airport in South Korea is reported on Tuesday. However, there has been no casualty, an airport official said.
Slight tremors felt in Himachal
A low intensity earthquake measuring 3.3 on the Richter scale was felt in Himachal Pradesh on Tuesday. It was the fourth in June, an official said. There were, however, no reports of any damage.

Thousands were forced to flee their homes today as major wildfires encroached on a charred area of Northern California still recovering from severe blazes in recent years, sparking concern the state may be in for another destructive series of wildfires this summer. Severe drought has already forced officials in several western states to close national parks as precautions against wildfires and issue warnings throughout the region to prepare for the worst. Road caves in due to heavy rainfall in Mumbai
A portion of the road at Anandilal Podar Marg, Marine Lines caved in following heavy rainfall in the city.Heavy rain accompanied by thunder and lightning, lashed Mumbai on Monday morning, causing water-logging and disruption of local train services.The downpour led to water logging in several areas, including East Matunga, Sion, Colaba, Chembur East and Santacruz.Colaba Observatory recorded 90 mm of rains; meanwhile, Santacruz observatory recorded 231 mm of monsoon rains in the last 24 hours.According to Central Railway, services of local trains on all three lines (Mainline, Harbour, and Trans-harbour) have also been affected running 7-10 minutes late. Trains on Up and Down lines between Thane and Byculla stations were running late by 15-20 minutes.In a related incident, seven cars were damaged after a wall of an under-construction building collapsed at Vidyalankar road in Wadala's Antop Hill following the heavy rain.
Fire breaks out at tent house in south Delhi
A fire broke out today at a tent house in south Delhi's Asola area, a senior officer from the Delhi Fire Services said. A call about the blaze was received at 4.40 pm and 20 fire tenders were rushed to the spot. The fire was doused by 7.50 pm, he added. No casualties were reported. The cause of fire is yet to be ascertained, the officer said.
Train engine decouples from coaches in Jharkhand
The passengers of Ranchi-Howrah Intercity Express had a narrow escape when its engine got decoupled from the bogies in Jharkhand's Dhanbad district on Monday, officials said.
Govt approves 3.18 lakh more houses under PMAY(U)
The government has approved the construction of over 3.18 lakh more affordable houses in urban areas under the PMAY (U), taking the total to 51 lakh units, the Housing and Urban Affairs (HUA) Ministry said today. The latest approval entails an investment of Rs 8,692 crore with central assistance of Rs 3,782 crore for 308 projects in six states and Union territories, the ministry said in a release. Maharashtra has been sanctioned over 2.48 lakh houses, followed by Rajasthan 31,304 houses, Tamil Nadu 23,564, Chhattisgarh 13,889, Puducherry 1,580 and Daman and Diu 203 houses. With the latest approvals, the cumulative houses being partially funded under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) would be over 51 lakh houses, the ministry said. Launched in June 2015, the government targets to construct around 1.2 crore houses for urban poor by 2022 under the PMAY(U).
Heavy showers pound Mumbai, Thane; 3 killed in rain-related incidents
The Southwest Monsoon picked up momentum in Mumbai, bringing heavy showers claiming three lives in the city and adjoining Thane, officials said today.
