The coal loading in the last two months registered an increase of 17.4 per cent to 101.66 million tonnes, the government said today. The statement comes amid Delhi government recently alleging that the national capital was facing an "alarming level" of coal shortage. "The coal loading during April-May 2018 was 101.66 MT, which is 15.5 MT (17.4 per cent) more than the coal loading achieved in the corresponding period of last year," the coal ministry said in a statement. The loading of the raw material to steel plants, except iron ore, during April and May in the current fiscal was 3.95 MT, registering an increase of 16.3 per cent over the year-ago period. "The cement loading during April-May 2018 was 20.40 MT which is 0.17 million tonnes (0.83 per cent) more than the cement loading achieved in the corresponding period of last year," it said. The West Bengal government has invested Rs 15 crore to set up 20 skill laboratories for skilling nursing personnel working in maternal and newborn care services, Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare, Chandrima Bhattacharya said today. All the skill laboratories have come up after 2011, she said at the 'Nursing Conclave' organized by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) here. "No such skill laboratories were in place before 2011. As many as 365 nursing seats have been added already while 960 more are expected to come up this year in nursing institutes," she said. The skill laboratories have been set up at the nursing colleges and nursing training schools. She said the government would set up more nursing schools and colleges in the coming days. Two workers have been trapped under a heap of boulders along with their earthmoving machines for over 24 hours in Odisha's Koraput district, police said today. The incident occurred yesterday evening when the two were working with earthmovers at a government project in Bariput village and the rain soaked earth caved in trapping them under a mound of boulders. Even though 24 hours have passed after the incident, the administration has not been able to rescue them. "Efforts are on to recover the trapped persons," Sub-divisional Police Officer Uddhav Charan Nayak. Japanese carmaker Honda says another person has died in Malaysia after a flawed Takata airbag inflator exploded, raising the number of deaths linked to the defect in the Southeast Asian country to seven. Honda said in a statement today that the driver died when the 2004 Honda City car crashed on May 27 in Kuala Lumpur. It said the car was included in a 2015 recall to replace flawed air bags on the driver and passenger side but several letters sent to the original owner did not reach the new owner after the car was sold. Congo's health ministry says more than 680 people have received Ebola vaccinations in three health zones where cases of the deadly virus have been confirmed. Health experts are pushing to find contacts of those infected. The World Health Organization this week estimated there could be up to 300 cases in the coming months. The health ministry late Thursday said nearly 500 people have been vaccinated in Mbandaka, the provincial capital of northwest Equateur province, since May 21. It said more than 110 have been vaccinated in Bikoro, where the outbreak began, and 70 in Iboko. The ministry says there have been 37 confirmed Ebola cases, including 12 deaths. Two motorcycles collided with each other, killing a 25-year-old man and injuring one other person today, police said. The accident occurred near Chetra Bujurg which comes under the jurisdiction of Mohanganj police station in Amethi district, they said. At least 12 people were killed in Nepal's Western District of Palpa on Friday after a bus carrying them skidded off from the road.Police authorities have confirmed that 27 people have been injured in the accident out of which 10 of them are undergoing treatment in United Mission Hospital in Tansen town.Palpa District Police Superintendent, Dilliraj Panta said the bus which skidded off 150 metres off the road was carrying members of a small economic organisation.The bus was on its way to Rampur from Tansen town."The bus carrying members of an Economic Co-operative organisation out for an excursion skidded 150 meters off the road. A bus travelling from Shimla to Tikkar in Himachal Pradesh today fell into a 500-ft gorge when the driver lost control while negotiating a steep turn, killing eight passengers, including three women, police said. The Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) bus was carrying 30 passengers when the accident took place at Chhaila, 45 km from here. While five people died on the spot, three succumbed to their injuries at Shimla's Indira Gandhi Medical College (IGMC) where they were taken for treatment. The driver of the bus was killed in the accident as well. The other passengers who were injured were taken to a hospital in Theog, about 30 km from here.
