In the wake of attack on Kashmiri students after the Pulwama incident, the University Grants Commission (UGC) on Friday wrote to vice-chancellors of varsities across the country to ensure safety of Kashmiri students on the campus and to maintain peace and harmony. The UGC was directed by the Human Resource Development Ministry to issue an advisory to all the universities to ensure that the security of Kashmiri students is not compromised. Two college students were arrested here on sedition charges for allegedly putting up "anti-national" posters seeking independence for Kashmir and Manipur, police said Friday. The duo-Mohammed Rinshad (20) and Mohammed Farris (19), pursuing graduation at the Government College Malappuram, were arrested following the complaint of the principal, they said. According to police, the students, under the aegis of an outfit 'Radical Students Forum', had allegedly pasted the posters on the portico of the college campus. The complaint was lodged after the students told the principal that they stood by the posters, which could be read as "azadi for Kashmir and Manipur", a police official told PTI. Both were charged under IPC section 124A (sedition), he said, adding that they were produced before the magistrate and remanded to police custody for four days.

The police have dropped sedition charges slapped against 14 Aligarh Muslim University after the recent protests on the campus, citing lack of evidence. A three-year-old girl was allegedly molested inside the toilet of a private school in Gurugram and a case has been registered in this connection, police said.The case has been registered based on a complaint by the girl's father.Shamsher Singh, ACP Crime, Gurugram Police said: "A case of molestation of a three-year-old student at a private school has come to light. We have registered the case and investigation is underway."It is alleged that a non-teaching employee of the school had molested the student in the school's toilet. The Delhi University (DU) will be beginning the admission process for foreign nationals from Friday for the 2019-20 academic session, it said on Thursday. The university had invited applications from foreign nationals from February 22 for admissions to undergraduate, post-graduate, M.Phil, PhD, certi?cate and diploma programmes. The registration process for applying to all programmes will be online through the Foreign Students' Registry website -- http://fsr.du.ac.in -- the university said. DU offers more than 500 programmes at various levels. Foreign nationals are not required to take the entrance test for admission to these programmes. The programmes on offer encompass various disciplines including arts, social sciences, commerce, natural and applied sciences, law, the university said.
