A JNU professor, who was affected by polio at the age of three, has written a book critically examining the progress made in promoting teaching and research on disability studies. He said the UGC has not yet taken the initiative to constitute a model curriculum development committee on disability studies for its advancement. Gajendra Narayan Karna, a disability right activist, has penned the book titled Curriculum Development on Disability Studies. For the past 18 months, he has been struggling with cancer. The discipline of disability studies was granted recognition as an academic discipline by the Ministry of Human Resource Development in September 2005, he said. Two schoolgirls were arrested in a middle school in central Florida on the charges of conspiring to murder classmates and drink their blood and eat their flesh.According to CNN, the authorities revealed that the girls aged 11 and 12 years waited in the school washroom to kill other students with knives.During a news conference, Bartow Police Chief Joe Hall said that the girls have charged with conspiracy to commit murder, possession of a weapon on school property, carrying a concealed weapon, and disruption of a school function.The girls admitted to being Satan worshippers, reported the officials. The two also planned on killing themselves, the officials said.They were caught after an automated call from the school intimated one of the girls' parents that their daughter was not in the class.It is still unclear whether the girls will be tried as adults.

A human skeleton was found inside a tank in a MCD school in Mukhmelpur village of Alipur area in Rohini district, police said Thursday. Police were informed about the incident by the school authorities on Wednesday evening, they said. Police said a skull and some bones were recovered from the tank after a few labourers involved in the cleaning spotted it and immediately alerted the school administration. Police along with crime and a forensic science laboratory (FSL) team visited the spot and are waiting the FSL report to ascertain how old the skeleton is and if was of a man or a woman, a police official said. The police are also questioning the school authorities and those involved in maintenance of tank, he said.
Authorities in central Florida say two middle school girls brought knives to school in a foiled plot to kill classmates, cut them up and drink their blood. Arrest affidavits released Wednesday by the Bartow Police Department say the two girls, ages 11 and 12, were armed with knives Tuesday at Bartow Middle School before they were caught. No one was hurt. Investigators say the girls planned to stake out a bathroom and wait for smaller students to enter. The affidavit says the students planned to cut their victims' throats, cut up their bodies, eat the flesh and drink their victims' blood. Authorities say the students then planned to kill themselves. Police say the plot was foiled when administrators searched for them after they didn't show up for class.

In a meeting held by the varsity's Standing Committee on Academic Matters, Professor Hansraj Suman said there was a discussion on the syllabus of nine Masters courses. "A decision was taken for the removal of Kancha Ilaiah's books from the political science syllabus due to their controversial content. These books are 'Why I am not a Hindu' and 'Post-Hindu India'," Suman, who is a member of the Academic Council and the Standing Committee, said.
