The two-day SAIBSA Leadership Conference, 2018 celebrating 50 years of International Baccalaureate (IB) education ended on a high note in Mumbai. Hosted by SAIBSA, the SAIBSA Leadership Conference, 2018 saw participation from around 75 IB schools from South Asian Countries.What started as an innovative experiment in 1968 has become an accepted and global standard of academically-rigorous learning, teaching and assessment. The IB curriculum is now taught to over 1.4 million students at almost 5,000 schools in 153 countries. Tamil Nadu Governor Banwarilal Purohit Tuesday released the Tamil version of 'Exam warriors' penned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saying the book is a collection of strategies to help students counter stress and improve their performance during exams. Purohit said the book lays emphasis on concentration, time management, self confidence, importance of practicing Yoga among other concepts for the benefit of students. "Exams are like festivals and they should be celebrated. And why? The book tells us succinctly that just as festivals bring out the best in us, exams are also meant to bring out the best in students," he said, quoting lines from the book. Union minister Pon Radhakrishnan and Chief Minister K Palaniswami, along with his deputy O Panneerselvam and other state ministers also took part in the event. The awards are given at the district, state and national levels. Five pupils are missing after gunmen attacked a high school in an English-speaking part of Cameroon, severely injuring the principal, sources said Tuesday. The attackers targeted a school in Bafut, a town near Bamenda -- the capital of the secessionist North-West region -- on Monday, the first day of the new academic year, a witness told AFP. Arunachal Pradesh Governor Brig (Retd) Dr B D Mishra Tuesday stressed on the need to enhance the education sector of the state by strengthening the required infrastructure. During a meeting with state Education Minister Honchun Ngandam who called on him at Raj Bhawan, the governor asked him to streamline Mid-day meals in the state, an official statement said. Karnataka Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy Tuesday said his government accorded top most priority for quality of education and suggested officials to study steps taken by the AAP government in Delhi in the field and submit a report. He asked the officials to recommend ways to improve the quality of education in the state, the Chief Minister's Office said in a tweet. Presidency University Vice-chancellor Anuradha Lohia Tuesday urged the students, who are on indefinite sit-in demanding immediate accommodation in the under-renovation Hindu hostel since August 3, to wait for another six months for the work to be completed. A 19-year-old cadre of the Khaplang faction of the NSCN has surrendered before the district administration, police and the Assam Rifles in the troubled Tirap district of Arunachal Pradesh.
