The Allahabad High Court has issued notices to the CBSE and the ICSE to file their response on a PIL seeking to regulate exorbitant fees charged by self-financed private schools. The HC has sought the response from the boards within four weeks. The matter would come up for hearing after service of notices to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and the Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE). Authorities of a public school here have complained to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) regarding the mismatch of Mathematics question paper given to a Class X student on March 28. The Principal of Mount Carmel Vidyanikethan Senior Secondary School in Kanjikkuzhy, had in her complaint sent to the Regional officer CBSE, Thiruvananthapuram stated that Ameeya Saleem, who had written the examination on March 28 "got an old set of question paper (Set 1) that is summative assessment (SA) 2" for the Mathematics examination. Her teachers who came to know that the student was given SA 2 paper of the year 2016 for the examination immediately informed the exam centre at Vadavathoor in the district. A plea has been moved in the Supreme Court against the decision of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) to cancel and re-conduct the economics exam of Class 12 held on March 26 and the mathematics paper of Class 10 on March 28 over suspicion of alleged question paper leak. The private schools in Tamil Nadu should strictly follow the rules with regard to summer vacation and not take special classes to the students, Education Minister K A Sengottaiayn said today. The government has already directed all the schools in private sector to follow the summer vacation rules and not to take special classes during the period, Sengottaiyan told reporters here. Stating that the government has taken necessary steps to prepare the students to appear for entrance examinations, he said about 4,000 selected students, based on their marks in SSLC, will be given special training for the exams.
Six more people, including two directors of a private coaching centre here, were today apprehended in connection with the CBSE question paper leaks, police said. Since yesterday, 12 people, including Class 10 and 11 students, have been apprehended in the CBSE leak case from Jharkhand's Chatra district, they said. A group of students today staged a demonstration near the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) office at Preet Vihar here against the leak of Class 10 Mathematics and Class 12 Economics papers. "The students tried to block the road in front of the CBSE office, but we kept them away. A group of about 25-30 students are protesting outside the CBSE office," said a senior Delhi Police officer.
