J'khand govt to develop six backward districts

Jharkhand Chief Minister Raghubar Das has said that the governments priority is to develop six backward districts of the state. "Khunti, Simdega, Gumla, West Singhbhum, Pakur and Sahibganj are the most backward districts. The governments priority is to develop them," Das told a meeting of officials here yesterday, an official release said. Das asked deputy commissioners of these districts to focus on the most backward block and panchayat of these districts. Emphasis should be given on education, health, self-employment and infrastructure. He asked the deputy commissioners to go to a backward village every week, meet the people, know their problems and solve them. Das asked to take the services of retired teachers or youth on contract wherever teachers would be required in schools. Amid controversy brewing post the Central Board of Secondary Education's (CBSE) paper leak, Minister of State (MoS) for Human Resource Development (HRD) Satyapal Singh asserted that education should not be politicised."Education is not something that should be politicised, as it is a necessity for everyone. Over 14L Class X students will not give retest: Javadekar

Amid the ongoing furore post the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) Class X question paper leak, Union Human Resource Development (HRD) Minister Prakash Javadekar on Friday confirmed that out of the 16 lakh students, more than 14 lakh will not have to appear for the Mathematics re-exam."I am amazed to see headlines in some news channels about confusion over retest. No confusion now over re-test: Javdekar

Union HRD Minister Prakash Javadekar said the announcements made by his ministry today should clear all confusion regarding the re-test of the CBSE Class 10 maths and Class 12 Economics papers. The re-examination of the board's Class 12 economics paper will be held on April 25, while the Class 10 mathematics re-test, if required, would be conducted only for Delhi-NCR and Haryana in July, the government said today amid widespread outrage over the papers leak issue. Paper leaks: CBSE shares exam centres, bank custodians' details with police

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on Friday shared information regarding the conduction of board papers to the police, which is probing the leaking of Class 12 Economic and Class 10 Mathematics papers.The education board, in a letter to the police, gave details about the examination centres, names of staff and superintendents at the centers, bank custodians as well as the names and contact details of bank managers who had custody of the leaked papers in Delhi and Haryana.There were as many as six complaints regarding the paper leak, and the information regarding the same have been furnished to the Special Investigation Team (SIT), the CBSE stated in the letter to the police.In the latest development in the matter, the Human Resource Development (HRD) Ministry has announced that the re-examination for the Economics paper for Class 12 Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) students will be held on April 25, while Class 10th Mathematics paper will happen only in Delhi .

CBSE student moves SC against Maths re-exam

A Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) student from Cochin on Friday approached the Supreme Court against the re-examination of Class X Maths paper.Rohan Mathew approached the apex court against the decision of the CBSE to cancel and re-conduct the Mathematics exam held on March 28 over the question paper leak.Mathew sought the court's direction to the education board to publish results on the basis of already held examination.He also sought setting up of a special high-powered committee to conduct a detailed investigation into the case.The Economics question paper of class XII and Maths question paper of class X were leaked on social media hours before the examination. CBSE paper leak: Board shares details of all complaints received

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has shared details of all the complaints it had received about the Class 10 mathematics and Class 12 economics papers being leaked, a police official said today. The board informed the police that they had received five complaints informing them that the two papers were leaked, an official privy to the probe said. The contents of these complaints have been shared with them and will be examined, the official said. In its complaint to the police, the CBSE had said that they received a complaint by fax on March 23 from an "unknown source" that a man running a coaching institute in Rajendra Nagar was involved in leaking the economics paper. The complaint also named two schools in Rajendra Nagar for their involvement in the alleged leak. Alternate set of ques papers could have checked leaks: ex-CBSE officials

Former CBSE chairman Ashok Ganguly today lashed out at the board for "inept handling"of the CBSE paper leak issue, contending that the introduction of one set of question paper from this year did more harm than good both for the students as well as the board. Delhi University professor J L Gupta, closely associated with the CBSE examination till recently, was also critical of the functioning of the board, observing that "alternate set of question papers" could have saved the board from the present crisis. The anger was palpable as both felt the board needs to be more competent as "complacency" has crept into its functioning. "When you are handling an examination of this magnitude, you should have a Plan B and Plan C ready. J'khand: 6 students detained with solved Maths paper during test

Six students, who allegedly went into their class 10th Mathematics exams with solved papers, were detained in Chatra today in connection with CBSE paper leaks, the police said here. Chatra sub-divisional police officer (SDPO) Gyan Ranjan said the six were sitting with solved Maths papers at their test centres on March 28. They have been detained," he said. One of the detainees claimed they allegedly received the papers from Patna, following which a police team was sent to the Bihar capital city for further investigation, the SDPO said. An FIR has been lodged against the four but no arrest has been made as yet, the SDPO said. Devi Ahilya university opts for traditional attire for

The Devi Ahilya University, for the first time since it was established in 1964, asked participants, including dignitaries present, to wear traditional Indian attire for its convocation ceremony, university authorities said. Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan, Madhya Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel, Vice Chancellor Narendra Dhakad, along with graduating students, were present at the ceremony today wearing clothes that included a turban native to the Malwa region and a jacket and stole. An official said that the move was to encourage Indianness, adding that the state government had also issued directives that traditional attire should be adopted for these ceremonies instead of the current practice of wearing convocation or graduation gowns and caps.

Rajasthan Pradesh Congress Committee president Sachin Pilot today accused the BJP of ignoring the plight of parents and students who are facing fee hike in private schools and demanded clear guidelines from the Centre. 'CBSE paper leak information given to police on Mar 27'

The information regarding the CBSE 10th Math's paper leak was given to the police a day before the conduction of examination, claimed a coaching teacher named Chandan Gupta, who is said to be the first one who flagged the incident.Gupta allegedly received a portion of the leaked Math's paper, a day before the exam was conducted on March 28. The leaked question papers of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) examination were shared on 10 WhatsApp groups, said the police on Friday.The Economics question paper of class XII and Maths question paper of class X were leaked on social media hours before the examination. CBSE paper leak: Sisodia asks Javadekar to convene meeting of state edu ministers

Stressing the need to move beyond party politics on the CBSE paper leak issue, Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia today asked HRD minister Prakash Javadekar to convene a meeting of all state education ministers to discuss ways to stop recurrence of such serious incidents.
