Marvel Entertainment has unveiled a new line of digital comics based on its characters such as Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the digital comics debuted with the launch of a series based on Marvel superhero Jessica Jones. "There's a huge audience out there not just on Netflix but on ABC, Freeform, Hulu, etc. that experience these characters digitally. In fact, it was hard not to notice when characters like Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist were some of our biggest sellers in the digital marketplace. That was the inspiration for the Kaare Andrews/Afu Chan's Iron Fists digital strategy and this next big step for us," director Nick Lowe told IGN. "We looked at the velocity of many of the digital release programs of our television shows and thought twice-the-content might fit the bill here too," said Lowe. Indian-American actor Pooja Kumar says there were not many great roles for South Asian actors in Hollywood a decade ago but there is a positive change now and they are offered meaningful characters today. A court in Satana in Nashik district has remanded a music band owner and three of its members in seven days judicial custody for playing loud music in a silence zone. The court remanded them in custody yesterday for the incident that took place in Satana on Sunday. The accused were identified as brass band owner Rajendra Chalvade and three band members Vishwas Mali, Ajay Ahire and Praveen Sonawane. According to police, they were playing loud music in a silence zone outside the court in More Nagar locality in Satana on Sunday evening. "They were booked under the Bombay Police Act and were later arrested. They were produced before the Satana court yesterday, which remanded them in seven days judicial custody," Hiralal Patil, in-charge of Satana police station said. Their instruments were also seized, he said.
Warner Bros has announced the release date of the Joker origin movie, starring actor Joaquin Phoenix in the lead. The film, which will see Phoenix transform into one of the most notorious DC supervillains the Joker, will hit the theatres on October 4 next year, reported Variety. The studio made the announcement ahead of the start of Comic-Con and said the film has been titled "Joker". To be directed by Todd Philips from a screenplay he co-wrote with writer Scott Silver, the film "centres around the iconic arch nemesis and is an original, standalone story not seen before on the big screen.
