WCC demands AMMA's urgent meeting over Dileep's reinstatement

Women in Cinema Collective (WCC) today demanded an emergency executive meeting of the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA) to discuss the row over the decision to take back actor Dileep into its fold. Dileep, an accused in the case of alleged sexual assault of a south Indian actress in February 2017, was behind bars for over 80 days, and is presently out on bail. After the incident, Dileep had been removed from the association's primary membership. But in a sudden move, AMMA reinstated his membership last Sunday, triggering widespread protests. The actress, who was assaulted, had resigned yesterday with three others too putting in their papers in solidarity with her. In a letter to AMMA today, prominent actors -- Revathy, Parvathy and Padmapriya, who are members of the collective of women in Malayalam film industry, demanded that AMMA convene a meeting immediately to examine the desirability of Dileep's reinstatement. Writing books for children toughest: Sudha Murthy

With much-loved books like "The Serpent's Revenge", "How I taught My Grandmother to Read" and "Dollar Bahu" to her credit, it would perhaps be safe to assume that writing for children comes naturally to Sudha Murthy. But, the writer, who has successfully worked her mojo every time she decided to pen a children's book, has a different story to tell. "Writing for children is the toughest thing," the best-selling children's writer told PTI. For the "mature writer" that Murthy considers herself to have become with time, scaling down to a child's level of understanding to create a perpetually hunky-dory world, has always felt like a task. "One has to become the child of that age to write for them. "For a child everything is wonderful, be it going to a fair or visting a temple with parents. Amy Adams' thriller 'Woman in the Window' to release next year

Amy Adams-starrer "Woman in the Window" is set for a 2019 release. Fox has scheduled the opening of the Joe Wright-directed thriller for an awards-season release date on October 4 next year, Variety reported. Tracy Letts (best known for writing "August: Osage County") has penned the screenplay with Scott Rudin and Eli Bush producing the project. The film is based on AJ Finn's bestselling novel of the same name, which debuted at No 1 on the New York Times bestseller list and remains the biggest selling adult fiction title of 2018. With over one million copies sold in the USA, the novel has additionally topped the bestseller charts in multiple countries and is currently published in 38 languages.
