Uma Thurman to star in Netflix series 'Chambers'

Actor Uma Thurman has been roped in by streaming giant Netflix to play the lead in its new drama series "Chambers". The 10-episode series follows a young heart attack survivor become consumed by the mystery surrounding the heart that saved her life. However, the closer she gets to uncovering the truth about her donor's sudden death, the more she starts taking on the characteristics of the deceased -- some of which are troublingly sinister. The "Kill Bill" star will portray the role of Nancy, the mother of a heart donor who forges a hesitant relationship with the young recipient only to find out her daughter may not be as dead as she thought, Netflix said in a statement. Leah Rachel will serve as executive producer and co-showrunner alongside Akela Cooper. Rachel will also serve as writer on the project. Over 600 rock paintings discovered in China

Over 600 rock paintings, some dating back 2,000 years, have been found in a Tibetan prefecture in northwest China's Qinghai Province, a media report said today. The paintings depicting animals, human figures, nature and constellations were discovered on May 5 by villagers who immediately reported the finding to the local authorities. The government of Chindu County, Yushu Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, confirmed that 609 rock paintings had been discovered, state-run Xinhua news agency reported. Wei Jian, deputy director of Chinese Society of Rock Painting, said the paintings were created over a wide time span with the oldest dating back 2,000 years. One of the paintings is of a human figure waving something like a flag with left hand, and using the right hand in gesture like a salute, Wei said. Reality TV star Kim Kardashian will be meeting United States President Donald Trump on Wednesday to free Alice Marie Johnson, a 62-year-old woman who is serving a life sentence without parole for a nonviolent drug offense.Kim will be joined by her attorney, Shawn Holley, for the meeting with Trump, reported TMZ.Johnson is serving a life sentence at the Aliceville Correctional Facility in Alabama.Kim and Holley have been working with Donald Trump's daughter, Ivanka Trump and Senior Advisor to the US President Jared Kushner for months to free Alice.Although Kim was a Hillary Clinton supporter, Trump has been roped into the matter following Ivanka's support.Johnson 's case came into limelight last year when Kim tweeted about it.

Tom Hanks wanted to make cameo in 'Solo: A Stars Wars Story'

Director Ron Howard has revealed Hollywood star Tom Hanks wanted to make a special appearance in "Solo: A Star Wars Story". The 61-year-old veteran star was interested in playing a Stormtrooper in the recently released Han Solo stand-alone. "Tom Hanks was interested in being a Stormtrooper. It would have been great. He was shooting and he just couldn't get there. But now that Lucasfilm knows that Tom Hanks is interested, I'm sure they'll work it out some day," Howard told news website JOE.ie. Walt Disney Studios has announced the production start of "Maleficent 2" starring Angelina Jolie and Elle Fanning.
