Father and husband behind Girija Devi's success: Documentary
Eminent classical singer Girija Devi had attributed her success to hard work and support from the two most important men in her life, her father and husband, according to a documentary film. The film 'Girija - A Lifetime in Music," made by vocalist Debapriya Adhikary and sitarist Samanwaya Sarkar, portraying the life and times of Girija Devi recently won the 65th National Award for Best Film on Art and Culture. When it came to performing in concerts, she did not go against the wishes of her businessman husband, Madhusudan Jain, and remained a family person committed to certain values, they said. "If she had to go for a concert for one day and another concert was scheduled in two days time, she was not allowed to stay there for more than one day. "She had to come back and go again. Emraan Hashmi to star in 'Jannat' director's next
Director Kunal Deshmukh and actor Emraan Hashmi are reteaming for a film on account of the 10-year anniversary of their successful "Jannat" franchise. The details of the plot have been kept under wraps for the moment, according to a press release. The film will be produced by "Son of Sardaar" helmer NR Pachisia and Hashmi. The forthcoming project will be written by National Award-winning writer Shridhar Raghavan. Hashmi and Deshmukh last worked together in "Raja Natwarlal", which released in 2014. Aspiring actor duped of Rs 4.5 lakh in Maharashtra's Jalna
A case of cheating was registered against two people who allegedly duped a aspiring actor of Rs 4.5 lakh after promising her a starring role opposite a prominent young film star, police said today. A Sadar Bazar police official said the complainant, a 20-year-old resident of Kalikurti area here, had come across an advertisement of a Delhi-based film casting firm in a local newspaper. "After she contacted the film casting firm, two people, who identified themselves to her as Harshad Anand Sapkal from Nashik and Sunil Bora from Delhi, started communicating with her over phone," an official said. He said that on the pretext of giving her a leading role in a film, the two allegedly got her to transfer Rs 3.24 lakh and Rs 1.27 lakh online on two occasions. "They later refused to take her calls after which the complainant realised that she had been duped. She filed a complaint yesterday. Efforts are on to apprehend the two accused," said inspector Mahadeo Raut of Sadar Bazar ..
