Scorsese to receive Golden Coach award at Directors' Fortnight

Veteran filmmaker Martin Scorsese will be honoured with the Carrosse d'Or, also known as Golden Coach award, at the Directors' Fortnight in Cannes. The award is presented by SFR (the French Film Directors' Guild) and the 75-year-old director will receive the honour on May 9 during the opening ceremony of the festival sidebar. "For its 50th anniversary, the French Film Directors' Guild is proud to celebrate an outstanding and inspiring filmmaker, Martin Scorsese," the SFR guild said in a statement. Film "Mean Street", which Scorsese presented at the Directors' Fortnight back in 1974, will also be screened at the event. It will be followed by a conversation with the filmmaker. Emily Ratajkowski and Lilly Singh are among the five actors who are on board NBC comedy pilot "Bright Futures". The 68-year-old actor will appear in a key recurring role in the Amazon Studios psychological and political thriller, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Wanted 'Star Wars' rights for 'Ready Player One', says Spielberg

Veteran filmmaker Steven Spielberg said he wanted to acquire the rights of "Star Wars" franchise for his latest release "Ready Player One" but it did not come to fruition. Ali Abbas Zafar finalises 'Bharat' script

Director Ali Abbas Zafar has said that he has "locked" the script for his next "Bharat", which once again features Salman Khan in the lead. The film is an official adaptation of 2014 South Korean film, "Ode to My Father", which narrates modern Korean history from the 1950s to the modern-day through the life of an ordinary man and events such as the Hungnam Evacuation during the 1950 Korean War. The 37-year-old director shared the news on Twitter. "God paints a beautiful picture as we lock the final script draft of #Bharat the film... End phase of writing holiday," Ali tweeted.
