Helen Mirren, Ian McKellen to star in 'The Good Liar'
Veteran actors Ian McKellen and Helen Mirren are set to star in New Line's drama "The Good Liar." The film will be directed by Bill Condon, who most recently helmed Disney's "Beauty and the Beast", reported Deadline. Condon will also produce with Greg Yolen. Jeffrey Hatcher has written the screenplay for "The Good Liar", based on the novel by Nicholas Searle. New Line acquired rights to the book two years ago. The film revolves around career con artist Roy Courtnay (McKellen), who can hardly believe his luck when he meets well-to-do widow Betty McLeish (Mirren) online. As Betty opens her home and life to him, Roy is surprised to find himself caring about her, turning what should be a cut-and-dry swindle into the most treacherous tightrope walk of his life.

Former Rajya Sabha MP Sharad Yadav today criticised Naresh Agrawal, who quit the Samajwadi Party to join the BJP, for his controversial comments targeting Jaya Bachchan and said she was a top actor and Agrawal should not have made such "petty" comments. "Jaya Bachchan is a top actor. Naresh Agrawal should not have made such petty comments against her," he said. Agrawal, who quit the SP to join the BJP, created a furore with comments belittling actor-politician Jaya Bachchan as someone "who used to dance in films", remarks dubbed "unacceptable" by BJP leader Sushma Swaraj. "I have been reduced to somebody working in films. For somebody who used to dance in films, act in films, I was denied a ticket (for Rajya Sabha). I did not find it appropriate," Agrawal said while joining the BJP at its headquarters.

Vladimir Putin will return to the Kremlin with 69 per cent of the vote, according to the last survey by state pollsters before the Russian presidential election today. The figure has dipped from highs of 77 percent shortly after Putin announced his candidacy in December, but there is little doubt he will win in a landslide even after a lacklustre campaign. "There are several reasons why Putin has such a high rating. There are of course his personal qualities. He is the most trusted (candidate)," head of state pollster VTsIOM Valeriy Fyodorov told a press conference today.
