Indrans, Parvathy adjudged as best actors

Actor Indrans and Parvathy today bagged the best actor awards in the male and female categories of the 48th Kerala State Film Awards-2017. Indrans was declared best actor for his memorable performance in the movie 'Aalorukkam', that told the story of an 'Ottanthullal' (poetic dance form of Kerala) artist. Parvathy was chosen as the best actress for her stellar performance in 'Take Off', a film based on the ordeal of Indian nurses in Tikrit in Iraq at the time of conflict in 2014. The awards were announced by Minister for Culture and Law A K Balan at a press conference here today. The best movie award was won by 'Ottamuri Velicham' directed by Rahul Riji Nair while the best director award was given to Lijo Jose Pellissery for the film 'Ee Ma Yau'. 'Hindi Medium' books April 4 release in China

"Hindi Medium", starring Irrfan Khan and Pakistani actor Saba Qamar, will release in China on April 4. The film, which released last year, will be screened in China after Bollywood films such as "Dangal" and "Bajrangi Bhaijaan" opened to rave reviews and massive box office collections. The movie has been produced by Bhushan Kumar (T-Series) and Dinesh Vijan (Maddock Films). T Series made the announcement on Twitter. Irrfan Khan's "Blackmail" co-star Kirti Kulhari says she is saddened by the news that the actor has not been keeping well but hopes people give him some privacy by not speculating about his health. Katie Holmes donate $10K to campaign for Ruthie Ann Miles

Actor Katie Holmes has donated USD 10,000 to a fund created to help Tony award winner Ruthie Ann Miles who lost her daughter in an accident. Miles, who is pregnant with her second child, was crossing a street in Brooklyn with her four-year-old daughter, Abigail, when a driver allegedly jumped a red light, killing the child. The 34-year-old actor was checked into the hospital in critical condition but has since stabilized. Celebrities and her fans have been donating to a GoFundMe page created for Miles and her family. Broadway community members including Lin-Manuel Miranda, Ben Platt and Kristin Chenoweth have also donated. Holmes and Kristen Anderson-Lopez, Oscar-winning songwriter of "Coco", have contributed USD 10, 000 each. Shoojit Sircar starts work on 'Udham Singh' biopic

While he awaits the release of his next "October", Shoojit Sircar has started shooting a "few clips" of his forthcoming biopic on revolutionary Udham Singh and will soon reveal the cast locked for the movie. The film is based on Singh, who assassinated Michael O'Dwyer, the former Lieutenant Governor of the Punjab in British India in 1940, to avenge the 1919 massacre of Jallianwala Bagh. "I am making the Udham Singh biopic, I'm already in the process of it, I've started shooting few clips also. The cast has been more or less locked, I'll be letting it out soon," Shoojit told PTI. A R Rahman to compose music for 'The Fault In Our Stars' Hindi remake

Oscar-winning music composer A R Rahman has signed up for the Bollywood remake of "The Fault In Our Stars". The Hindi adaptation of the 2014 Hollywood romantic saga will be directed by Mukesh Chhabra and produced by Fox Star Studios.
