Sandra Oh-starrer 'Killing Eve' green lit

"Killing Eve", featuring "Grey's Anatomy" star Sandra Oh, has been officially picked by the BBC. The thriller comes from the "Fleabag" creator and award-winning writer Phoebe Waller-Bridge. The eight-part series will premiere on BBC One and BBC Three later this year, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Oh stars in the eponymous role as a bored MI5 security officer who feels chained to her desk job and wants to fulfil her fantasies of being a spy. When Eve is tasked with tracking down a fierce assassin Villanelle before she can strike again, the two women end up against each other in a cat-and-mouse game, yielding an unseen twist to the quintessential spy thriller. Jodie Comer portrays Villanelle. The show also stars Fiona Shaw, David Haig, Kim Bodnia, Darren Boyd, Sean Delaney, Kirby Howell-Baptiste and Owen McDonnell. The series is based on the Villanelle novellas by Luke Jennings.

An adult film actress is suing President Donald Trump and wants a California judge to invalidate a nondisclosure agreement she signed days before the 2016 presidential election. Stormy Daniels, whose real name is Stephanie Clifford, has claimed she had sex with Trump once and then carried on a years long platonic relationship. She has, through a lawyer, denied the two had an affair. Trump's attorney, Michael Cohen, has said he paid the porn actress USD 130,000 out of his own pocket as part of the agreement. The total quantum of non-performing assets (NPA) related to wilful default cases in the courts decreased to Rs 1.04 lakh crore by December-end, against Rs 1.11 lakh crore by the end of September, data published by Transunion Cibil said. The number of cases pending with the courts also decreased over the three-month period, according to the data, which took only loans of over Rs 25 lakh into account. The total number of suit filed decreased to 8,494 as of December from 9,339 in September. We are probably going back to Emergency era: Shyam Benegal

Veteran filmmaker Shyam Benegal today said the kind of censorship and mood the country has with regards to cinema is reminiscent of the Emergency era. The veteran director was speaking at a panel discussion here at FICCI Frames, which was moderated by senior journalist Bhupendra Chaubey. Citing examples of controversies over films such as "Udta Punjab" and "Padmaavat", Chaubey asked Benegal whether the situation today is similar to the dark period of 1975-77. To this he replied, "We probably are going back to it in some ways. I think so. In 1975-77, my own films, one after the other, faced problems. One film was even banned. We are going in that kind of a thing. That's why I say we need a debate on a larger scale." Benegal had earlier headed a committee constituted by the Information and Broadcasting ministry to holistically look into the functioning of the censor board. The report had been submitted to the ministry. There has been no update on it yet. The National Award ...

Still believe she is around and would call me in evening: Balki on Sridevi

Director R Balki, who had produced Sridevi's comeback film "English Vinglish", today said he is unable to accept the fact that the superstar is no more. The 54-year-old actor died of accidental drowning on February 24 at a Dubai hotel. The 2012 film, which was the directorial debut of Balki's wife Gauri Shinde, saw Sridevi play a housewife who enrols in an English-speaking course after feeling left out in her family. "I cannot talk about her as I have not accepted it yet. I still believe she is around me, and call us in the evening. I cannot accept it. It is too much of a shock for all of us. For me, to pay any kind of tributes would mean I have accepted it. I am not able to accept it," Balki told PTI. The director also expressed his displeasure and shock over the sensational coverage of Sridevi's death on TV channels. He was talking on the sidelines of 'Masterclass with R Balki' session at FICCI Frames here. In the session, Balki shared his journey as a filmmaker - from his ...

'No dancing': Saudi concert edict stirs ridicule

A "No dancing or swaying" instruction on tickets to Egyptian pop sensation Tamer Hosny's upcoming concert in Saudi Arabia has triggered an avalanche of mockery and ridicule on social media. Thousands of fans were taken by surprise when tickets for Hosny's first-ever Saudi concert in the western city of Jeddah on March 30 came with the edict that dancing was "strictly prohibited". "Ladies and gentlemen, please fasten your seat belts," one Twitter user said. "The corridors and seats will be equipped with sway detectors. Anyone who thinks about swaying will be kicked out." Another tweeted: "No dancing or swaying in a concert! It's like putting ice under the sun and asking it not to melt." The kingdom's entertainment authority did not respond to AFP's request for comment about the instruction. With its new modernisation drive, the ultra-conservative kingdom has hosted a series of concerts in recent months by artists such as Lebanon's Hiba Tawaji and legendary Greek composer Yanni. Men and
