Lorde thanks fans for 'believing in female musicians'

Singer Lorde has thanked her fans for "believing in female musicians" in a touching newspaper advertisement. The singer put out a full-page thank you note in the New Zealand Herald following her loss at the male-dominated Grammy Awards, reported Entertainment Weekly. "I just wanted to say thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for loving Melodrama the way you did. My nomination belongs to you," wrote Lorde, whose LP lost the Album of the Year trophy to Bruno Mars' '24K Magic'. The 21-year-old singer also paid tributes to the other nominated artistes, like SZA and Stevie Nicks, as well as several other talents from New Zealand. Lorde was the only female Album of the Year nominee on Grammys and her note recognised that as it ended with, "Thank you, also, for believing in female musicians. You set a wonderful precedent." Kendrick Lamar, JAY-Z, Childish Gambino, and Mars were also nominated in the same category.

'House of Cards' production resumes

The production on sixth and final season of Netflix' 'House of Cards' has resumed after Kevin Spacey's exit from the show.The streaming giant also announced that two new cast members are joining the series for the final season. Diane Lane and Greg Kinnear are joining the hit-series for its upcoming season, reports Entertainment Weekly.The details of their roles are being kept under wraps, but it is known the two will play siblings.The two cast additions will join Robin Wright, Michael Kelly, Jayne Atkinson, Patricia Clarkson, Constance Zimmer, Derek Cecil, Campbell Scott and Boris McGiver in the upcoming season.Production on the series was originally shut down in October after allegations of sexual misconduct were made against series star Kevin Spacey.He was accused of sexually assaulting actor Anthony Rapp when he was 14-years-old.Upon news of the allegations, Spacey was essentially fired from 'House of Cards' and recast in the film 'All the Money in the World'.

Michelle MacLaren to direct 'Cowboy Ninja Viking'

Director Michelle MacLaren, who has worked on shows like "Breaking Bad", "Game of Thrones" and "The Walking Dead", has been roped in by Universal Pictures to helm their upcoming movie, "Cowboy Ninja Viking". The movie features Chris Pratt as a new kind of assassin with the ability to manifest the toughest skills of three different personas, reported Entertainment Weekly. Based on the graphic novel by A J Lieberman and illustrator Riley Rossmo, the screenplay was originally written by Paul Wernick and Everett David Reese, with Craig Mazin handling the latest draft. "Cowboy Ninja Viking" is scheduled to release on June 28, 2019.

Netflix resumes 'House of Cards' production without Spacey

Streaming service Netflix has resumed has resumed production on the sixth and final season of political drama "House of Cards". Production on the series was originally shut down in October after allegations of sexual assault and harassment were made against series star Kevin Spacey. Shorty after the production was suspended, Netflix and studio Media Rights Capital (MRC) announced that they were severing all ties with Spacey. The sixth season of the show will consist of eight episodes, with Robin Wright starring. Following Meghan Markle's exits from the show, Hollywood actress Katherine Heigl has has been tapped to join the Aaron Korsh-created legal drama as a series regular for its recently announced eighth season.According to the Hollywood Reporter, the 39-year-old actress will portray the role of Samantha Wheeler, a talented new partner at Pearson Specter Litt who challenges the status quo and will either become the firm's greatest ally or most powerful enemy.Talking about the announcement, Heigl said that she feels incredibly lucky to be the newest member of a show that she is an immense fan of."Joining 'Suits' was the perfect organic way to not only collaborate with an EP I admire deeply, but to also become part of a show and cast that I am an immense fan of. Amala Paul files sexual harassment complaint against biz'man

Well-known South Indian actor Amala Paul today filed a complaint of sexual harassment, reportedly against a city based businessman. The actor told reporters that the man used vulgar language against her while she was rehearsing for an upcoming event in Malaysia, at a dance studio here. "I was shocked and (felt) humiliated. 'Padmaavat' producers move Guj HC, seek protection for release

The producers of "Padmaavat" have moved the Gujarat High Court seeking a direction to the state government to provide police protection to theatres so that the film can be released. Though the Sanjay Leela Bhansali-directed film released across the country on January 25, theatre owners in Gujarat have not screened it, fearing violence. The petition by Viacom 18 Motion Pictures is likely to come up for urgent hearing tomorrow. Viacom 18 Motion Pictures said it needs the court's direction to the government to provide police protection to cinema halls, in view of the widespread violence that erupted ahead of its release last week. Karni Sena and some other Rajput organisations had launched protests against the film for alleged distortion of history.
