Bob Odenkirk to star in and produce action thriller 'Nobody'

"Better Call Saul" star Bob Odenkirk is set to produce and star in the action thriller "Nobody" for STXfilms. Derek Kolstad, who wrote "John Wick," is attached to write the screenplay, reported Variety. The story revolves around an ordinary man who comes to the defense of a woman being harassed by thugs, then learns later that one of the thugs is the brother of a drug kingpin and is out for vengeance. Kolstad, "Deadpool 2" director David Leitch, Chad Stahelski and Kelly McCormick of 87eleven are serving as executive producers.

'Black Widow' standalone movie finds writer in Jac Schaeffer

The highly anticipated "Black Widow" standalone movie starring Scarlett Johansson has roped in Jac Schaeffer to pen the script. Marvel President Kevin Feige met with several candidates before tapping Schaeffer, reported Variety. Marvel executives have also met Johansson to discuss what they wanted from a "Black Widow" writer. Johansson has till now appeared as the character in six films, the next one being this summer's "Avengers: Infinity War.

Ronan Farrow signs three-year television deal with HBO

Actor Ronan Farrow has signed an exclusive three-year television deal with HBO. As per the agreement, Farrow will develop and be featured in a series of investigative documentary specials for the network, reported Variety. The specials will focus on the abuse of power by individuals and institutions, and will proceed in tandem with ongoing reporting for the New Yorker, which he will be joining as a contributing writer. In addition, Farrow will also serve as a producer and host on other topical, newsworthy pieces for HBO's various platforms, to be announced soon. 'Snowpiercer' TV adaptation given series order

Actor Jennifer Connelly-starrer TV adaptation of Bong Joon-Ho's sci-fi hit movie "Snowpiercer" has been green-lighted at cable network TNT. The pilot of the series was written by Josh Friedman and directed by Scott Derrickson, reported Variety. The series is set seven years after the world has become a frozen wastel and centers on the remnants of humanity, who inhabit a gigantic, perpetually-moving train that circles the globe. Actor Lily James said she feels like a "hypocrite" when she thinks about quitting the social media while continuing to be present on it. Actor Jeffrey Wright has joined the cast of movie adaptation of "The Goldfinch". The "Westworld" actor will play the character of Hobie in the film, reported Variety. The Pulitzer Prize-winning book, written by Donna Tartt, is about Theodore Decker, who loses his mother in a bombing at the Metropolitan Museum of Art and is taken in by a wealthy family, only to be drawn into New York City's art underworld.
