'Passive scrolling on Facebook can make you feel bad'

Facebook has admitted that passively scrolling through posts on the social media network can leave people feeling worse afterwards. Researchers David Ginsberg and Moira Burke in a blog post highlighted the positive and negative sides of using social media. The authors cited one experiment in which students of the University of Michigan were randomly assigned to read Facebook for 10 minutes. They were found in a worse mood at the end of the day than students assigned to post or talk to friends on Facebook. A study from the University of California, San Diego and Yale in the US found that people who clicked on about four times as many links as the average person, or who liked twice as many posts, reported worse mental health than average in a survey. Ben Affleck continuing alcohol treatment after care?

Ben Affleck is reportedly continuing to receive treatment for his alcohol addiction. The 45-year-old star was snapped outside a treatment centre here, reported Us Weekly. A source told the magazine, "Ben's main priorities have never wavered. He's focused on his family and spending time with (producer girlfriend) Lindsay (Shookus). "Dealing with this disease is something he'll have to work on for the rest of his life and he remains focused on it." Affleck first checked into rehab in 2001, shortly before his 29th birthday. In March, the "Justice League" actor revealed he completed his term at a rehabilitation centre. Producer Siddharth Roy Kapur has signed on "Hasee Toh Phasee" director Vinil Mathew for a dramatic thriller inspired by true events. 'Mamma Mia!' sequel better than the original: Amanda Seyfried

Actor Amanda Seyfried, who plays the role of Sophie in "Mamma Mia!", has promised fans that the upcoming sequel is going to be better than the original. Three more women accuse Dustin Hoffman of sexual misconduct

Three more women, including a high school friend of his daughter, have come forward to accuse veteran Hollywood star Dustin Hoffman of sexual harassment. In an account published by Variety, Cori Thomas said she was a minor when Hoffman exposed himself to her. Thomas said she spent a Sunday afternoon with Hoffman and his daughter in 1980 when she was a 16-year-old student at the elite United Nations International School in New York, Variety reported. 3-day film fest in Kolkata to create environmental awareness

The third edition of Kolkata International Wildlife Environment Film Festival began here today with more than 300 schoolchildren taking an oath to protect nature and wildlife. New biopic in Marlon Brando in the works

A new film focusing on the life and career of Hollywood legend Marlon Brando is in the works. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Brian Oliver's New Republic Pictures has taken up the book, "The Way It's Never Been Done Before" as the basis for a biopic on the "Godfather" star. The book is former director George Englund's memoir, who was Brando's longtime friend. Talking about the project, Oliver said, "George and Marlon's friendship spanned five decades and covered all the ups and downs in the actor's career and personal life.
